Exactly. The Church is what the person of Christ says it is, i.e., those who confess belief as Peter did. The Church is not uniquely based on the person of Peter, but upon his profession.

Non sequitur. The rock is "the faith of his[Peter's] confession"(John Chrysostom). If you mean to say that the Church is built on Christ and maintained by the apostles and their successors, I agree with that.
