I fished there sometimes in the first lake as you go in on the backside of that lake . I do not take muh crossbow , I take a shotgun . In Maine it is illegal to drive around with your shotgun loaded and they will write a ticket for it . Further down the highway from Mascatatuck is Crosley . I have hunted quail and Pheasant there . In the same county , the Mascatatuck River runs through there , at the end of that county is the old Mascatatuck Mental Hospital . The Army has the old Hospital now ( Urban training center , so they say ). Purdue University owns the land out front , behind it all , on the river I own a couple acres .

Mascatatuck comes from the Muncie ( Munsee ) word for river . A few Muncie came here from New York during and after the Revolution but there are none around anymore other than maybe canada and Wisconsin . They were originally the Wolf Clan of the Lenape and all Lenape War Chiefs came from this Clan .
