that's some cheapskate rationalization right there. Despite the pollyanna cliches he wasn't "serving" us - he signed up for a potentially life-threatening job and got paid handsomely for it.

Waiters and waitresses, on the other hand get paid $2.13/hour (last time I checked) which means paychecks are $0 after taxes so they are living on tips.

I wouldn't be surprised if this guy is a liar. At any rate it's a very cheesy and "uncouthful" thing to do and reflects badly on those who served.
