If I was in that Chevy I would have been $#@!ing terrified after the very first fishtail. It handles just like a 50's car with about 10x the engine it's supposed to have.

All 1950s cars do not handle the same. Tires have gotten better--much better--but suspensions have not improved that much.

And the reason why is, many people don't want a car that handles well. They want a 'drift car'. They like going down the road sideways. And many more people wouldn't know what to do with a car that handles well if and when they had/have one. Just about any car can change lanes in 20% of its stopping distance or less, and the occasional light truck or crossover can do nearly as well. But you still see people plow into obstacles or stopped cars when they could go around them instead.
