Hey guys, I did up this comic on a website I've been developing called "Bernanke Panky" (www.bernankepanky.com), which is a site that tracks news relating to the Fed, economic indicators and interest rates. It should come as no surprise that I'm fairly anti-Fed (like our friend Ron Paul). Anyway, I'm periodically putting together comics that I hope will be satirical, informative and (maybe even) funny. This is the second I've done, which deals with the recent House Financial Services meeting. In it, Bernanke runs into Barney Frank, who would have poverty magically eradicated by the Fed (talk about *failing to understand* what the Fed does) and then Ben has a run-in with Ron Paul, who he more or less runs away form.

Anyway, that was more backstory than you needed. Check it out here:

And leave comments if you have any here on the forum or on BP!

that is a very good summary of the crap i watched the other day. every american should see what goes on in those meetings.

Well i think when Ron's in office we can get Bernanke on a RICO statute and take all of the Fed facilities etc etc....

Wait, did the congressman really say something close to that (on the first page)? If so where can I watch the whole Question time?

You can watch the whole thing (note: 3 hrs long!) online thanks to cspan. Unfortunately, I can't provide a link b/c cspan doesn't have permalinks to articles (it's a javascript pop-out). However, if you go to cspan and search for recent programs "house financial services committee" you can probably find something.

Did Barney Frank say that explicitly? (why not just print some money?) Nah he didn't. However, he was pressing Bernanke about inequality and doing something about inequality. Given that Bernanke's control as Fed Chairman is over the money supply, I believe Barney Frank thinks that the Fed could "do something" by providing money to the poor in some way.

And let's not forget that Bernanke has noted many times that he isn't afraid to run the printing presses. If you want to read up more, check out http://www.bernankepanky.com/quotes.php and go to the 2002-11-21 quotes. Scroll down a bit, skim it, and note Ben's stance is always to inflate - he even alludes to Keynes suggesting offhand to bury money in bottles in mines for workers to find.

I believe Bernanke doesn't see the big picture on all of this - he's a believer in inflation. That's why he just doesn't get Ron Paul. Ron is speaking a different language ...

EDIT: Try this link: http://www.c-span.org/VideoArchives.asp?CatCodePairs=,&ArchiveDays=100&Page=4 However, note you'll need a real media player (if you're like me and hate Real Player, try "real alternative" which is a simple free install)
