The campaign has called me and asked me to speak at a local GOP meeting TOMORROW. I need to give a short speech (under 3 minutes). I will speaking to regular GOP voters so I am trying to tailor the message as such. This is what I have so far. Any suggestions or comments?

Good evening

My name is xxxxxx, I am a entrepreneur and owner of a online advertising company based here in Lebanon NH. I have the great pleasure tonight to speak on the behalf of Congressman Ron Paul.
Congressman Ron Paul is a family man who has been married for over 50 years. He is a doctor and was a flight surgeon in the Air Force. He owned a private practice where he delivered more than 4000 babies. Ron Paul has always believed that we can not have liberty without life this is why he has always been pro-life.
Congressman Paul can be judged by his voting record and according to a study done by the University of Georgia Congressman, Ron Paul has the most conservative and consistent voting record of any member of congress since 1937.
Sticking to his conservative values Congressman Paul has never voted :
To Increase Taxes
On an unbalanced budget
For federal restrictions on guns.
To increase the power of the executive branch.
To regulate the internet
Congressman Paul also does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program
He also returns a portion of his congressional office budget to the treasury every year.
He has never voted for a bailout or stimulus spending.
All his votes reflect the original intent of the Constitution.

Congressman Paul, who is the chair of the Financial Services Subcommittee Domestic Monetary Policy, has long fought to get a full and complete audit of the federal reserve and has recently won a small victory, in that fight, receiving a partial audit of the Fed.
That small audit of the Federal Reserve has reveled, that in secret, Ben Bernanky authorized 16 trillion dollars in bank bailouts. More astonishing yet 5 trillion of those dollars were given to foreign banks.
This is why as part of the Paul Budget plan is to rein in the power of the Federal Reserve while completing a full audit. The Paul Budget Plan recognizes the seriousness of our debt and currency crisis. That is why Ron Paul will propose to cut 1 trillion dollars from the federal budget in year one, while eliminating five federal departments.
The Paul Plan to Restore America Now will balance the budget in 3 years by
Eliminate HUD
Eliminate the department of Energy
Eliminate the department of commerce
Eliminate the department of interior
Eliminate the department of Education, bringing education back where it belongs, to the parents, teachers and local communities.
Stop foreign aide
Stop nation building
He will reduce the federal work force by 10%. Paul will do this through attrition. Meaning he will freeze federal hiring.
Paul will lower the salary of the President from $400,000 a year to just $39,336.00, the average income of a citizen.
Paul call for a full repeal of Obamacare, Dodd-Frank and cut regulations.
Congressman Paul will lower the cooperate tax rate to 15%. This will help bring jobs back and spur the economy.

All of this can be done while lowering the debt and honoring our promises to our seniors and veterans.
This plan will deliver what America needs in these difficult times: Major regulatory relief, large spending cuts, sound monetary policy, and a balanced budget.

Thank you for allowing me to speak tonight and I hope you consider voting for Ron Paul in the upcoming primaries.

That will be over 3 minutes.

Try to contrast more with other candidates. Say "Unlike Romney, Perry, and Cain, Ron Paul opposed the TARP Wall Street Bailout." etc.

I like it. Perhaps you can squeeze in about how he gets the most active duty military donations out of everyone, including Barack Obama, (specific amounts are always better, people believe you more if you use accurate figures) and how he plans to bring the troops home to guard our borders and have a strong national defense.

Definitely mention military donations and that he was the only one to predict the housing crisis.

If there's a lot of seniors in the crowd, I'd be sure to specifically mention that he won't just cut their social security.

Oh that is true. Do you have any idea who the majority of your audience will be? If you do, I would try and tailor it to them. For instance, with seniors I would definitely mention what pauliticalfan said.

It's good to state all of Paul's positions but I think you should spend some time convincing the rank and file that not only can Paul beat Obama, but that Paul is really the only candidate to beat Obama. A lot of these voters just want Obama voted out. They will back Romney simply because they think he can win. You should try to spend some time on that. Good luck with it.

"$400,000 a year to just $39,336.00, the average income of a citizen. "

Replace "average" with "median"

"All of this can be done while lowering the debt and honoring our promises to our seniors and veterans."

Mention all of it can be done by the executive branch with no additional input from congress necessary.

When you test it and if you are over time, I would remove this section:

"Sticking to his conservative values Congressman Paul has never voted :

There is a issue card that has all of that on there.. get them put on every chair.

How about I change this

Congressman Ron Paul is a family man who has been married for over 50 years. He is a doctor and was a flight surgeon in the Air Force. Congressman Ron Paul is a family man who has been married for over 50 years. He is a doctor and was a flight surgeon in the Air Force. His support of our troops has been reflected back in the form of support from the troops. In the 3rd quarter Congressman Paul has raised over $133,000 from active duty military. That is almost twice as much raised by Obama and more than all other republican candidates combined. Congressman Paul's Conservative message rings true with our military.

That conservatism can be judged by his voting record and according to a study done by the University of Georgia Congressman, Ron Paul has the most conservative and consistent voting record of any member of congress since 1937.

If there's a lot of seniors in the crowd, I'd be sure to specifically mention that he won't just cut their social security.

'...because he knows you didn't have a choice but to make major contributions to it, but he will offer you grandchildren a chance to find a better way. And Ron Paul will find those areas where we have been led down the garden path and eliminate those other programs which have not contributed to a better life for our citizens. Just as you folks have the experience to understand that not every change over the last half century and more has been an improvement, Ron Paul understands this, and will prune and weed out the failures among them.'

Good idea, I will see if I have that slimjim here.

Edit: nope gave all those away already grr.

I think it's a great speech!! If I were giving it, I would add something like "of all the candidates running for President, including Barack Obama, Ron Paul is the only one who understands that our nation's founders intended this country to be one that promoted peace and prosperity, not war and debt". Or some such thing, if you get my drift.

If there's a lot of seniors in the crowd, I'd be sure to specifically mention that he won't just cut their social security.
I'd say that and shorten it and speak slowly - resist the temptation to jam a ton in - you need to give people space to listen...

then speak about impacts, the spending cuts after WW2 benefited people, etc...

practice it a few times, especially with non-supporters to see if it can be understood by a first time listener.

relax, have fun ,smile, tell a brief story about your sign holding in the last election, remember your actions always speak louder than words...

I should add that I was told that almost all these people will already have their minds made up, it is more about showing the other campaigns that we will not be out campaigned. So maybe I should go a little more personal than factual.

If that's the case, then comparing Paul and his plan to the other candidates is necessary. Perhaps some punches can be thrown?

Try to contrast more with other candidates. Say "Unlike Romney, Perry, and Cain, Ron Paul opposed the TARP Wall Street Bailout." etc.

I think this is a key point to include. Ron Paul is the only candidate who has never voted for or supported a bailout, big-government stimulus program, or tax increase.

If you have three minutes, make sure to end the speech with the best/most powerful piece of information that is relevent to the audience. The last piece is what they are going to remember.

You can say something like: "BUT more IMPORTANTLY" or "Last but certainly not least", or "perhaps the most defining feature of Ron's campaign"....drum roll....is....bang! whatever the audience would respond to. You are there to tell the people why Ron is the best candidate specifically for THEM...

I would say the biggest obstacle Ron has is the electability argument so you need to give Ron credability, I would definitely mention his tie at AMES Straw Poll, solid 10-15% support, his head to head match up against Obama, and his third place in fundraising over Cain and Bachmann, his tea-party rivals in the beginning and then move to the policies etc...

Although I am not a fan of the bullet points, you only have three mins, so you really have no choice but take that approach, but you list way to much. I would stick with the 6 most relevent points and say an additional sentence about each point to hit it home.

good luck!

Since you're so limited on time, you might want to know what your target audience is and form the speech around that.

I'd go with the FED, Ron's decades fight against them, and audit the fed bill, and the secret bailouts

Then I'd hit militarism, ending the wars, and how RP isn't afraid to defense america by declaring a war, winning it and coming home as soon as possible. How he'd bring our troops home so they can stop spending their hard earned dollars overseas and spend it at home, stimulating the economy and being with their loved ones all at the same time. Definitely mention his overwhelming support from the military through donations all the way from 2007.

I'd end with the economy.

Don't be afraid to call out some OBVIOUS flaws with Cain and Romney, remember you're NOT Paul so you can say things he wouldn't be able to say himself. I would point out Romney's donations from all the big banks and Cain's past with the federal reserve and his time at AQUILA. Also the fact that they BOTH are flip floppers and cater their responses to specific audiences and compare that with RP.

How he is the only candidate that protects the constitution and follows his oath of office and has the record to back it up.

Agreed! Also you can throw in if you like: Ron Paul will never legislate via executive order.

Though, I think you've covered the key points.
-delivered 4000 babies, pro-life
-served in the air force
-troops support RP; most military donations
-strong national defense, no new wars
-$1 trillion in cuts but none in social programs! (eg. SS, medicaid, medicare, welfare)

Military Donations

Military Donations : Ron Paul recently gave a strong review of this subject in the rally and address to Iowa State University students, quoting him or paraphrasing him as closely as possible with today's uplifting Iowa State Straw Poll win on the books is, IMHO, critical. Here's the speech at the Youth rally : At 09:36 in this segment of the speech he categorically speaks about Military Donations here : Ron Paul Speech At Campaign Youth Rally At The University Of Iowa pt.3

This is one of the best speeches I have ever heard him give on this campaign trail.

Here is a site which specializes in collecting quotes from Ron Paul during this campaign : Ron Paul Quotes . It's a well administered Page and you can cruise through and browse and find lots of good content.

Quoting Ron Paul about the Military Donations is crucial in your speech, IMHO.

I would strongly advise against bashing any other candidate or saying a single word about another candidate. Be positive and your confidence in Ron Paul will show.
