Kerry: 5.7 million

Hillary: 6.2 million

The purpose of this post is to know the points for when we pass Kerry's fund raising total (which was in the general election) and Hillary's total (which included pledges and funds collected before). Beating this goals means Ron Paul will indisputably have collected more money than anyone else in a single day.

Since there is some variation about what those totals are, I included two article links to news stories below. I'll add to the links as people may contribute more information later in the thread. I think we can beat both of these before 8pm. Kerry maybe somewhere between 6-7pm.

Kerry's campaign boasted the he raised $5.6 million on his Web site on the day of his acceptance, a record in online donations. The campaign said it will turn the money over to the Democratic National Committee now that Kerry is operating under public financing laws as the official nominee.

Among 2008 presidential candidates, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York holds the record for raising the most in a single day: $6.2 million on June 30. But Mr. Paul has surpassed the best day of Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, who raised $3.14 million on Jan. 8.

That was only pledges. Not many outlets, maybe only 1, mentioned Romney and 6.7M.

Good to to know, I think the tea party will be twice the success it already is if we can raise the 6.3 mil neccessary to beet Hillary's imaginary number.

And as far as the Kerry record, that was not for the primaries. It was for the general election.
