Barr Campaign Aide Kicked Out of Press Conference

Just curious: what other candidate from the LP besides Ron Paul would be drawing near the support that Barr is currently drawing in the polls? All the other LP candidates were completely unknown, and there's no way the media would have paid ANY attention to them. Barr has gotten tons more media attention than any previous LP candidate, and he's going to vastly outperform previous LP nominees at the polls in November.

Regarding the "name recognition over principles" claim, Bob Barr had a voting record in Congress rated "libertarian" over his lifetime by the Republican Liberty Caucus, and he's moved in the right direction on issues about which he was wrong (Iraq, Drugs, DOMA). HE was the one who pushed the Libertarian Party to author the invitation to Dr. Paul to seek its Presidential Nomination (before Barr got into the race), a resolution that also called for the Libertarian Party to open its resources to the Paul campaign (particularly in New Hampshire). Barr endorsed Dr. Paul's campaign early on, and he introduced him at CPAC. I understand why the Barr campaign is upset that Dr. Paul isn't giving him his exclusive endorsement, and it's a sentiment I share.

I agree with you, except when Bob Barr just stabbed Ron Paul in the back he has now stabbed much of his base in the back, that is why I don't think I can support Bob Barr anymore.

This pure crap. These conspiracy theories about "neocon plants" really need to stop.

Mary Ruwart FTW!

Austing Peterson is a good guy and was a big asset to the Ron Paul NYC Meetup (he moved to D.C. for the job with the LP).

Putting satan on the ticket because he gives name recognition does not further the message. How can you tell a neo-con shill, by their capacity to lump everyone who disents under the umbrella of conspiracy theorists. A little disent over the years and not buying the whole I have a change of heart crap every politician dolls out once he decides to go for the WhiteHouse would get us a much better slate to choose from....

Benton and Barr can go fuck each other in a closet for all I care, ATM.

Is it 2010 yet?

I am 90% convinced this is more 'creative destruction' that neoconservatives such as Michael Ledeen are about. This is lucifarian. tones

srsly, is this a pissing contest?

Anti-Barr people are pissing on Barr for making sense - that we shouldn't split the vote between four people (especially if two of them have socialist leanings).

If it was Dr. Paul, Chuck Baldwin, and Bob Barr at the press conference, I'm sure Barr would have come.

He didn't even tell Ron Paul.

The candidates don't communicate directly that's the point of campaign managers. You guys don't seem to understand this. And, again, I'm not surprised Benton did this. Typical behavior of Ron's campaign. They never got Ron's campaign off the ground, they were always ineffective, and always rude.

Stop blaming Barr for campaign miscommunication and a, once again, rude Benton.

Excuse me WHO DIED AND MADE BOB BARR THE CAPTAIN OF THE FREEDOM MOVEMENT?

Why would Bob Barr not physically stand for what he CLAIMS his principles are? Bob Barr refused to align himself with the Campaign For Liberty's 4 Constitutional platform points which the other 3rd party candidates agree upon. If Bob Barr REALLY agreed with 1. Non-Interventionist Foreign Policy 2. Civil Liberties 3. Dealing with the National Debt Crisis 4. Abolishing the FED and Sound Money he would have made good on his RSVP.

Why do you really think that Dr. Paul made this announcement? Do you really believe Bob Barr's and the LP's angle that Ron Paul is IN IT FOR THE MONEY and WANTS A CULT OF PERSONALITY!

Dr. Paul has humbly and honorably served the people throughout this campaign and as a Congressman, RON PAUL HAS NEVER voted AGAINST the Constitution.

Bob Barr on the other hand does NOT have sterling record in term of fidelity to the Constitution.

This reminds me of the Japanese diplomats that were kicked out of the Whitehouse when Pearl Harbor was under attack.

Damn you got history man HAHA.

Good for Jesse Benton I would be pissed off to. They told Ron they were going to be there and flaked out. This was historic it could of been really big news.

The POSSE rides tonight PAUL, MCKINNY, BALDWINN and NADER!

Why would Bob Barr exclude himself of physically stands where he CLAIMS his principles lie WITHIN the 4 Constitutional Platform Points which 3rd party candidates agree

Today was a great day for the Campaign for Liberty!

There's no captain of the freedom movement, and you newbs that came in 1 or 2 years ago are acting like Ron is. The announcement was for normal people who planned on voting republican or democrat, not for most of us going third party. He wasn't telling you who to vote for. Get over it, grow up, and check your facts.

Barr had the most to gain plain and simple. I was ready to transistion my suppot from Paul to Barr but not happening now. Proving a point is what this was about.

I think repeating things like this alienates people from the (Ron Paul) Revolution, since not all of us have been Constitutionalists for the past 20 years (those people who are older than 20, anyway).

I was a liberal until late July of last year, so don't go bashing people for not having "fidelity to the Constitution".
