Barr Bashes Ron Paul on ReasonTV

Barr has reached the point of writing us of, and even taking outright hostile potshots. This is evidenced by his latest comments, and on his website where the volunteer section on longer includes the option "talk to Ron Paul supporters." It looks like Barr has fully adopted the strategy of trying to win only conservative Republicans and a few libertarians. The former group has been mostly whipped back into line by Palin. He's going to fail hard, and not even break 500,000 votes.

That is the stupidest statement I have ever heard. Nobody ever said that. You are making crap up to make excuses for Barr. There was no rumor started by Ron Paul's campaign. And nobody would even believe anything that stupid. Ron Paul said at least a 1000 time he would not run.

Go on YouTube you fucking tool. Watch RP on Fox Business from the day before the press conference. I didn't make up anything. The C4L lied to promote anticipation for the press conference so they'd have a chance of getting national coverage. Face it. You. Are. Wrong. Yet again.

Stop trying to make excuses for Barf. He and his staff levied blistering attacks on Ron Paul. That is a fact. Ron Paul is the one who led me to open my eyes. I consider an attack on him an attack on me. I will never, ever give Barr and his LP cronies any respite for what they've done.

You managed this with a straight face, no eye ticks or anything?

Its always hard to remove any bias, but from what I've seen, this site has more Barr bashing then Baldwin bashing.

My bias come from being new to this site, and being a reader and occasional poster on Dailypaul since last year. That site started to go bad this past spring with endless conspiracy nonsense, but really went bad once they drove away any "non-follower" of the approved line of thought. Now that site is 99% unreadable as there is way too much group think going on.

As free thinkers we should welcome those who are from the other side of an issue. If nothing else, you should feel strong enough about your positions that you can defend them.

My position on Paul is clear. I have great respect for him as a person and for what he has done over the past years, but by no means is he or any of us perfect. He's human, just like me, and sometimes makes some bad calls and puts trust in the wrong people. Hell, I'm in the middle of a lawsuit that has come close to bankrupting me cause I put my trust in the wrong people so I damn well know how it can happen!

As for Barr, I like how he has moved our way, he's not where I am but it shows hope that he could be reformed politically. When looking at the idea of him running under the LP label it makes me hope that maybe some others will "come out of the closet" and give up on the Repugnants. I know I've talked one on one to a couple of elected R's over the years and had a few that always seemed like they wanted to agree with me on an issue here or there, but they just couldn't make that break from what they think they were "supposed to" think.

Several sources from different groups have confirmed it, and the CFL staff did not deny it. I think they tried to justify it as building media interest in their press conference.

First off, I don't care if I offend you.

Second, I am only stating the facts. I love Dr. Paul, too, but the man is not a god. Whether or not he was involved, the C4L spread lies that put the Barr campaign in a position where it either had to submit to the will of the C4L, or stand by their principles and their candidate, no matter how controversial he may be. I am glad they chose the latter, because if the management of the C4L are anything like the guys who ran the Paul 08 campaign, they'll continue to fuck up like they already have.

And if you're not willing to forgive Barr or the LP for doing what they believe was best for the success of their candidate and party, then you've already reverted back to the close-minded state you were in before Dr. Paul opened your eyes. How sad...

The Libertarian Party is not the pantheon of liberty. That was the impression which I was getting from Mr. Barr's commentary.

....he's the presidential nominee, of course he's going to talk up the party. Ask Baldwin, McKinney, McCain, or Obama if their respective parties are the pantheon of liberty, any guess what they'll say?

...yet the Green, Constitution, and Independent party candidates were not too lofty to appear on the same stage with each other...

The LP is not evil for trying to establish itself as a reputable third party! They're trying to become mainstream so people can actually wake up and vote for them!! Appearing on national television sitting next to and speaking after the likes of Ralph Nader, who people have at least heard of (and generally dislike because of 2004, not saying I agree), and two other nobodies running in political parties that very few people have even heard of, will only be a detriment to the LP's image! THAT is why Barr "blew off" RP, he has to look out for his party. To him, it simply wasnt worth the risk. Especially since he agreed with the 4 points anyway, and everyone including Dr. Paul are aware of that!

For the poster above...you are revelling in your own demise. Bob Barr and the LP would have been the ONLY third party that could have made an impact in this election. He wouln't have won..and most of you on this forum have missed the point entirely. One of the problems is the disgruntled LP members , probably like yourself, who would grudge vote for Baldwin even though you dispise a theocracy...only because you are pissed at the LP for not nominating Ruart or some other purist who wouldn't register in the polls. Bob Barr is a TOOL to use to gain ground politically. Now, for the Ron Paul supporters...I will say this. I am very suspicious as to why Ron Paul would choose to endorse the LEAST LIKELY CANDIDATE TO SUCCEED..with not an OUNCE of experience. YOu are always harping on Sarah Palin...yet you turn a blind eye to YOUR candidate of choice...Baldwin ...who isn't even listed ON THE POLLS. No experience whatsoever...your HY - POCRACY is smothering. TONES

Have you ever heard of "voting your conscience"? Voting for the likely winner is what got us McCain and Obama.

Hi there,

I understand. To me, it looked like Mr. Barr "blew off" Ron Paul's conference to have his own hasty gig. Then, with Mr. Barr's rogue staff member posting that mean spirited rant, plus former Congressman Bob belittling Ron's press conference on Cuvoto [sp], followed by these comments--Mr. Barr has lost my support. I understand where you're coming from, though, and will reinvestigate the Libertarian Party in 2012.

Thank you for your comments. Your thoughts and time are appreciated.

Sincerely,
Omphfullas Zamboni

1) I wish we weren't so divided over the third party issues.
2) What he actually said in this video, really wasn't all that bad.

Ditto on #1. Not a good way to get LP ballot access for 2010 or 2012.

Did he get so mad that he stamped one foot right into the ground and split himself in two ('cause they had guessed his real name)?

Thank you for at least being open and not simply flaming me like the others have done. Although I obviously don't agree with you, I can at least respect your opinion.
