I still don't get the thinking of "If someone uses "fill in the blank" to hurt or kill someone with then it is the object itself that needs to be banned".

That "fill in the blank" can be anything anyone can fit in their hand odds are. I can use a bat to beat people to death and odds are if someone did it enough they would find a way to make bats illegal but what does that solve? I can then pick up a golf club or something else. It isn't the object but the dumb ass using it that needs to be dealt with.

Ban knives because someone stabbed people with them, ban cars because people run people over with them can't wait to see what's next.
