So what is up with the "No One But Paul" Moneybomb?
It's complicated (isn't the birth of anything on RPF) so here is the brief rundown:
~2 weeks ago some RPF members really started pushing for a grassroots moneybomb and we began throwing themes around.
~a little over a week ago Bailout for Freedom was the most popular option so we brainstormed a date and I sent the campaign a simple message just stating that we were planning a moneybomb on the 17th of February and didn't want a conflict (no mention of the theme).
~less than a week ago another poll comparing the themes was posted on RPF and after leading for a day Bailout for Freedom began to lose to NOBP and as we played with ways of making the NOBP theme softer for new supporters it really surged in popularity. We debated over doing NOBP in March and Bailout in February, NOBP folks wanted to run it in February.
~Folks began shifting over to NOBP for February 17th in light of the popular vote and decided to push Bailout to March.
~2 days ago Collins came on and informed us that the campaign was going for "Bailout Freedom" and wanted it on the 14th of February. We also received confirmation that this would be the "official" moneybomb being promoted by the campaign in Feb. Those of us who had set our work on Bailout for Freedom aside picked it back up and added the BailoutFreedom.com domain so we would have a name consistent with the campaign promotion.
~NOBP is still figuring out exactly what they are going to do moving forward but simultaneously running their own moneybomb on the 14th looks like the current consensus although some think it would be more efficient if their effort went into doing NOBP for March as it doesn't have a moneybomb yet.
As to the theme we were thinking of several angles. The most prominent are: Liberty back in the chains she had broken out of and imprisoned by things like the Patriot Act, NDAA, etc. and Ron Paul going to bail her out of jail. Freedom as a "venture" vital to our nation and it being "too big to fail" so we have to help elect Ron Paul so he can bail freedom out.
