B.J. Lawson, a Cary businessman and former physician, who lost to Price in November said he plans to make another bid.
Lawson, who said he will formally announce his candidacy on his Web site next week, said his 37 percent showing was strong considering the Democratic-leaning district. He said one of the problems in defeating Price is that the Republicans put up a different opponent every two years.

I dono about this one...

I agree, not too sure either. BJ has two thing going for him in 2010 that he didn't in 2008.

1. Higher name recognition. Goes along with what BJ said.
2. Big O not on the ballot.

One thing I think that will work against BJ is fundraising. In 2008, BJ was the only legitimate candidate after the primaries and he raised a decent amount of cash. This probably wont be the case in 2010, not too mention the fact that BJ has already lost, and some might not donate because they think it's going to a losing cause.

The Obama wave and massive black (and democrat-voting) turnout crushed Lawson. He still wouldn't have won, but he would have done uncharacteristically good for a republican: around 45% or so.

The fact that Lawson got the same percentage of the vote as the 2006 republican candidate in that district did is a minor miracle in of itself.

If Obama screws up just enough, and with a good amount of money again, Lawson absolutely can win this seat.

Lawson 2010!

Awesome -- Lawson in 2010!!

I think he'll do MUCH better without people using Obama as a reason to go vote.

Could you elaborate? Do you mean you don't know if he's going to win or you don't trust him or what?

I'm excited for every well spoken liberty candidate willing to run for office. Even if he doesn't win, he'll be spreading the message. I know he's very active promoting the Plenty, their local currency to local businesses and citizens. So he's been getting to know more and more constituents. And I'm sure he's learned a number of things from his last run that he would do different this time around. It probably won't hurt that he'll be a couple years older either.

Hell yeah, his district isn't too far from where I'll be living. Weekend trips for Lawson!

This is exciting. I will donate again to BJ. The O sheep voting straight ballot killed him last time.

I'll have to see how his poll results are before I donate to him though.

Off year elections usually benefit the party not in power. If the economy stays bad and we're still in Iraq, I think many Dems will be willing to take a chance on Lawson. He'll definitely be a contender.

Should we propose a Lawson 2010 sub-forum to go alongside the Schiff/Rand Paul/Kokesh forums?

Price should be focused on pitching for the Rays and could neglect his bid, so we could have a chance!

Oh, different David Price?
