AUDIT THE FED hearing to be broadcast live

haha...audio snafu. Woods..."I don't know why I couldn't seem to get across what I was trying to say to this guy." "Well, he kept cutting you off for one thing"

Yeah, I noticed that. A bit funny, and a bit unprofessional, but oh well. Overall it went well. :)

i'm sorry, I am not that impressed with Woods understanding of the political process. I am not going to say that he hurt anything, but I just don't see where he brought that much value to this hearing either side.
I hate to, but I agree. I thought he would have a much tighter grip on what needed to be addressed, not go off on philosophy and make speculations. *sigh*

I think it's how a lot of us come across.

I'm not seeing what the big deal is. Sounds like you two just wanted him to be more politically correct.

For instance I'm glad he called to question the myth that the Fed today is actually independent from political influence, and he brought up the political business cycle.

I would like to have seen more emphasis from the pro-audit crowd on why it should NOT be made part of the larger "Fed regulatory reform" bill.

The argument that Frank and Watt made is that they want to know exactly which powers the fed is going to end up having after the reform before they decide whether they want the fed subjected to an audit. A good question for them would be, name some possible new powers of the fed that they would not want audited?

I agree. I liked a lot of what he said but he did seem pretty amatuerish and there are probably people on the board that could have done better.

I don't know, he pretty much forced Barney into the position where he argued against the possibility of people being against the bill being "paid off". Just the fact that Frank brought it up kept reinforcing the possibilty. Which side do you think the majority of the American people are more likely to believe?

Nope just wanted him to stick the language of the bill instead of trying to squeeze in 50 years of austrian economics into 5 minutes of exchange between various voters and decision makers.

It wasn't a sign. It was just a bill of some sort. It was in plastic so I couldnt tell from the glare all that well. Looked like big numbers though..the guy was holding it so that it appeared over Woods right shoulder.

It was simply an FRN (couldn't read the number on it, but it looked like maybe $50). The person waved it around when Tom was talking about fed policymakers being "bought and paid for."

yeah, got to make sure we have the votes necessary, so stick with the text of the bill.

good thing you have such a handle on the process.

No, please spill the beans.

I thought I saw Ron in the background talking to Frank at the end of the hearing, and the body language didn't appear as though it was a friendlier exchange. It was right at the time Woods was caught with the hot mic.

i'm sure someone will have a youtube of that part.

exactly.

this hearing went extremely well for us.

I think woods gave a complete and honest testimony.
He has the right to say anything he wants in his testimony as long as it is the truth.
The people in congress who oppose this measure are bought and paid for...
He shouldn't have backed down, Woods should have requested an investigation into the federal reserves lobbyist and finances of those congressmen who seem to be leading the charge for the fed reserve.
I wouldn't back down. I'd make it tomorrow's headlines.
