U.S. Conference of Mayors Adopts Resolution in Support of K-12 Critical Race Theory

The United States Conference of Mayors adopted a resolution during its annual convention in which its members pledged to fortify the edification of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in public K-12 inculcation.

During its conference held August 31-September 4, the mayors adopted Resolution Number 68, “In Support of Critical Race Theory in Public K-12 Education.” CRT is a Marxist ideology that embraces the concept that all American institutions are systemically racist, with whites as oppressors and blacks as victims.

“NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT “RESOLVED,” the nation’s mayors support the implementation of CRT in the public edification curriculum to avail engage our youth in programming that reflects a precise, consummate account of BIPOC history,” the document states.

The NSBA asserts that no public school is teaching CRT:

Maybe they should tell it to the teachers who have openly and defiantly asserted that they will break the law and continue teaching CRT-based material even after it has been banned in tax-funded public schools by state or local authorities.[1] After all, it's gotta be pretty hard to continue to teach things that you were supposedly never teaching to begin with.

According to the letter sent to Resident Biden from the National School Boards Association, that started the ball rolling on all this shit, that's just right wing propaganda.

The NSBA asserts that no public school is teaching CRT:

I don't doubt that there are some teachers out there teaching what is essentially CRT (either with or without their schools' approval). But I'm also certain that a lot of these parents at school districts all over the country are up in arms about their schools supposedly teaching CRT when they really aren't. That's happening in my school district, and what I'm witnessing is parents who are practical lemmings of conservative talk radio hosts, none of whom have a clue what they're talking about (both the parents and the talk radio hosts), but who just picked up on this CRT jargon as the boogey man du jour.

This isn't just about CRT. CRT serves a double purpose for teaching marxism as well as the ability to label protesters as racists. There is also outright pornography in libraries and other issues. Contrary to some of the above saying that this is all imaginary drama stirred up by the likes of Sean Hannity, the complaints are about what is actually in the text books and libraries.

It is also curious that these same posters on the forum who say its all phantom flights of imagination and that the parents are victims of mass psychosis, also seem to be perfectly fine with siccing the FBI on these parents.

I'm the one who mentioned Hannity (and Maddow), but only as an exemplar of the kind of opportunistic snakes who gleefully exploit controversies like this for their own benefit. They will inflame the passions of the gullible and ignorant who will then be unprepared to fight CRT effectively, because they will only understand the issues in the narrowly limited terms by which the Hannitys have presented it. This is a legitimate cause of concern.

However, it is absolutely not a warrant to summarily dismiss what is happening as nothing more than a consequence of "right pundit memes" (those "memes" are the effect, not the cause). CRT is not merely irrational, it is actively anti-rational and illiberal. CRT and its concomitants are deeply pernicious and genuinely dangerous and must be vehemently opposed and fought against.

I apologize. I did not direct that at you. You are the one who broke the story of the FBI. I was getting at the people who shrug off the FBI (Federal involvement in local issues for crying out loud!) and blame it on the parents for imagining things. If this is all hype and no substance, there would be no need for the FBI. A school board would simply say, "Look in our libraries, text books, we have nothing to hide," but in reality, at the board meetings the parents read from actual text books, library books, paper handouts, videos that students recorded of crazy teachers, etc. to promote their case against the schools.

This is a lie.

The theory itself is taught in public school, and curriculum is removed and modified based on the theory in public school.

After Attorney General Merrick Garland ordered the FBI to combat “threats of violence” against school administrators, the Associated Press falsely fact-checked a claim that the national school board group that prompted the policy wanted parents labeled “domestic terrorists.”

Last week, the National School Boards Association (NSBA), a non-profit organization that represents school boards around the country, wrote the Biden administration a letter claiming that public school officials are “facing physical threats because of propaganda purporting the false inclusion of critical race theory within classroom instruction and curricula.”

“This propaganda continues despite the fact that critical race theory is not taught in public schools and remains a complex law school and graduate school subject well beyond the scope of a K-12 class,” the letter emphasized.

Without citing specific cases of serious violence or threats that would warrant the FBI’s intervention for crimes squarely in the realm of local police departments, the NSBA said that “these acts of malice, violence, and threats” should be classified as domestic terrorism:

As these acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes.

As such, NSBA requests a joint expedited review by the U.S. Departments of Justice, Education, and Homeland Security, along with the appropriate training, coordination, investigations, and enforcement mechanisms from the FBI, including any technical assistance necessary from, and state and local coordination with, its National Security Branch and Counterterrorism Division, as well as any other federal agency with relevant jurisdictional authority and oversight.

According to the Associated Press, conservatives on social media were lying when they claimed the NSBA specifically asked “the Biden administration to label parents who protest school policies domestic terrorists.”

“The organization is not asking Biden to label parents who protest at school board meetings as terrorists,” asserted the AP. “The NSBA asked the administration to do an interagency investigation of threats of violence against school board members and said the threats ‘could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes.'”

NSBA CEO Chip Slaven told the AP that conservatives’ characterizations of the group’s position were “absolutely false.”

“This is absolutely false. NSBA and school board members don’t want to stop parents from expressing their First Amendment rights or label them as terrorists,” said Slaven.

“Our letter to President Biden was about stopping dangerous and threatening acts that school board members and other education leaders are receiving.”

“We want to stop the death threats, threats to family members, and other harassment and acts of intimidation,” he added.
