'How I Ran a National TV Ad for $100’
Posted by Lew Rockwell on March 19, 2010 01:20 PM
Google TV Ads lets you do it. Note that Slate, smack in the paranoid middle (oh no: some scary people distrust our benevolent regime!), makes a typically stato-point, but the video is still fun, and informative.

UPDATE: if someone donates a good 30-second LRC spot, I'll use Google TV ads to run it on FOX, etc.

Here is a video explaining the procedure:
http://www.slatev.com/video/how-i-ran-ad-fox-news/

And here is the Google site explaining how to do it:

Great way to reach that 50+ or Baby Boomer demographic that we need - CHEAP! The Facebook grassroots ads are great, but I think this fills a grassroots gap that Dr. Paul definitely needs.

So for all you people that want to have TV ads for women, older people, boomers, etc., now you don't have to rely on just the campaign, RevPac or Endorse Liberty. Put up or shut up, as they say. :)

We could have chip-ins, and critiques of videos before they go online, etc!

This is in my opinion, the best way to beat the MSM. Let's fight fire with fire and beat them at their own game. This is probably the best way (outside of phone from home and canvassing) to reach those who are not internet users and brainwashed through TV MSM.

This is a GAMECHANGER! On your mark, get set, GO!!!

This is something the campaign should be doing. It has money, from the grassroots, for things like this. The fact they aren't doing more of it, is questionable though.

That is a good point - we should donate to the campaign first and foremost and hopefully max out. However, if:
- there is anyone who feels there is a gap in the messaging
- or wants something targeted to their particular RP cause
- or targeted to their area
- or has a particularly effective video/ad they can put on TV

Then they can test it here for feedback, and if enough people OK it, they now have an easy and CHEAP vehicle to get that out to the people we need to reach - the ones brainwashed by the MSM through TV!

If a chip in is set up for this, I'll definitely donate to it. The campaign is not targeting women and the older voters effectively. I'd love to see a quality ad made for those groups.

We know there are some great RPFers who have some great creative skills. Let's see your fine work and make a difference for Dr. Paul! :)

I agree, but I think the campaign should spend some of its money on ads specifically targeted at senior voters and to help deliver a clear foreign policy message (the one they already have is only okay, not the greatest).
They have failed to target senior/older voters, and those are the voters that are brainwashed by the MSM AND go out and vote consistently.

If the campaign could put together one or two ads, casting doubt on the media itself...that would help greatly. If the campaign can help the grassroots in that area, it would be greatly appreciated...but we haven't gotten it.
I can only make so many videos with my video software, and my budget that isn't existent. If I had a million, I would easily hire a professional ad company to make an ad destroying Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC...and use GoogleAds to run it on those programs directly. $5,000K for the ad, another $995,000 on ad buying...destroying the MSM on their own network...

The issue though, is that as a "PAC" I think the networks can refuse to air them...but if it's a presidential campaign running ads, like, "The MSM is lying to you, they gave you President Obama, and $5 Trillion more in debt, Bill O'Reilly doesn't know the Constitution, and lies to your face about it. Visit Bill O'Reilly Lies.com to learn more, and see the only candidate that can defeat Obama. I'm RP and I approve this message.", the networks cannot refuse to air it, because of equal air time laws for campaigns.

From the tons of existing YouTube Ron Paul videos, I'm sure if some of us wanted to go on the cheap, we could ask permission and reuse or cobble some bits together. It doesn't have to be super professional. The important thing is getting some sort of message out. Or re-directing to a website, like what the example video showed.

Of all the grassroots videos I've seen, this one is the best. If only grassroots videos are eligible to submit then I recommend this one. However, If the awesome stuff being put out by the Paul campaign and RevPac could be submitted, then those are by far the best.

I sent a message to Ron Paul's campaign website on this topic linking them to this thread. Hopefully they will find this valuable enough to take advantage of it...........

Campaign website....... http://www.ronpaul2012.com/contact-us/

A member at RonPaulForums.com has suggested a method that should be looked into by the campaign. All the details can be found here.....

Dear xxx xxxxxxx, Thank you for contacting Congressman Paul's office using the Internet. Your message has been sent to the Congressman. Sincerely, The Office of US Representative Paul

Great, let's contact the campaign and RevPac.

But remember that this is for the grassroots particulary so we can directly affect TV and get out messages/ads that the campaign/RevPac are not doing, i.e. seniors ads, ads for women, etc!

I am sure, GHoeberX‎ - could create a masterpiece commercial. Perhaps two of them stressing Foreign Policy and Electability and Older voters ala medicare etc..

Here is the deal, you need someone to step up and take the reigns WHO IS A KNOWN AND VALUED MEMBER.

People here have been burned by fucking parasite con-artists here and they are loathe to invest in another "Hey, here is a great idea..." from someone who just joined in the last 6 months. Not saying "you" are one of them, but speaking from an outside perspective.

Contact some well-known posters and see if any would take this up.. gather the resources, chipins and skillsets needed to create a commercial. Shit, maybe one of the PACS.

Yeah, but the appeal of this is any Joe/Jill can get their own ad on TV now and beat the MSM at their own game. The campaign and the PACs are already doing a great job with TV ads.

But I think there needs to be a mental shift with the grassroots that we can get our videos not just onto YouTube, but now onto TV.

Get off the internet and into the living rooms and bedrooms of America!

I think that its dumb to keep spending $$$ trying to reach these other categories of voters and change their minds, which are mostly made up. It would be far more useful to spend $$$ figuring out how to get out the vote of all of the young supporters we already have. Rent a party bus, stock it will free snacks and sodas, and set up a route to the polls.
