Attention: Important Indiana Delegate Info

Awesome.. We've probably got about 30-40 people running for state delegate in the 1st congressional district that I know of. Probably another 20 or so running for precinct committeeman positions in the Lake/Porter county area.

The ones that are running as precincnt committeeman is great but are they trying to be state delegates too that would help us more now then anything

No, I was just a little surprised that the rules weren't explained.. I mean, it's pretty straight forward right.. As long as you didn't vote (D) in your last primary, you're golden. I just hope people are actually taking the steps to call you guys and find out the rules..

I think it would have made more sense just to tell people the rules and have them call you if they have more questions.. Are people actually calling? Had I not met you first on this forum, I don't know how trusting I'd be in this whole kind of "top-down" approach you're taking.

One thing I'm not clear on is how are we going to agree on the National Delegates to select?

Yes many people are calling I think it is that I am born and rasied here and have nothing to hide even the fact that I am a Paul supporter and most have been great but no one has to do this at all We just wanted a way to know how to coordiante our vote somehow at the state convention. And as far as the Nationals all I am doing is waiting to see who wins on May 6 and then ask who is willing to go -- and start there --maybe check with thier town or meetup to see if anyone can vouch for them but I am not like picking special people or anything. I just saw my state was going to be lost and did not want Hoosiers to not have a say at the convention but anyone that is uncomfortable can do what they feel comfortable with

Hey all, I drove back home (2.5 hours from school, during the storm and superbowl; 2.5 hours back in the fog) to turn in my paperwork yesterday. Everything seems to be in order, but I realized I don't have anything from them to confirm my paperwork is filed. Of those who have already filed, did you get anything; e.g. receipt, letter in the mail, or some other physical indicator of filing?

I know the local paper in Anderson prints all filings at the end of the week, so there is that... otherwise, I'll just call and confirm before the 22nd I guess.

Yep, I got a receipt type thing after I filed. Probably not necessary tho, just keep tabs on it. My county lists the daily filings on their website. Runs about 2-3 days behind though it seems.

I got a receipt as well, just make sure to ask about a week before the final day. You can never be too sure.

I would make sure you get it! I will be filing tomorrow! Does anyone have extra signatures for their counties? I got an email asking for more, even though we had enough to be on the ballot everywhere, did anyone else get that?

Deadline Feb 22 at noon so make sure you contact me we need to win Indiana

Odd form dates

Hey fellow Hoosiers. I was filling out my CAN-37 form today and in the instructions, saw this:

Instructions: This form is used by Democratic and Republican Party candidates for Precinct Committeeman and State Convention Delegate. A declaration of candidacy for election as a precinct committeeman or state convention delegate must be filed with the county election board or with Lake or Tippecanoe county boards of elections and registration no later than noon, February 22, 2008 and no earlier than January 23, 2008. Please print or type all information on this form except for signature.

(emphasis mine)

They aren't going to disqualify people that filed before 1/23/08 will they?

Yes but we have made sure that no one started before that so I dont think that will be any problem at all.

We did not start filing until Jan 23

What district am I in?

Where can I find out what delegate district I am in? It looks like these go into the 100's and I can't find the information or a map anywhere. All I've noted is that BlogNetNews.com has listed people running in 3 digit districts, which means this isn't the congressional district.

Help!

I do hope McCain is not pulling some shenanigans with the IN delegates this week. I understand he will be in Indianapolis this friday, which is curiously the day all our delegate applications are due. Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I sure hope he isn't able to influence who is approved for the list.

Not possible it is done county wide he would have to see and know all 92 counties lists. Come on Indiana tomorrow is the last day to file lets show them really who should have been the free state.

List of candidates

I noticed an abbreviated list of candidates on the Secretary of State's website, but this didn't include delegates or committeemen. Do we know if this is an indication that the list has been published somewhere?

It's definitely too late to run....... Though, I suppose it might still be possible if they need to fill holes in the delegation. My county has ~45 delegates allocated (10 per district, 15 at large). According to the local paper, less than 25 people filed. I don't know how they fill the holes, but I assume they would be appointed.... if no one is willing to run, who do they appoint? I just wish I had found more RP supporters willing to run out here.

Your best bet is to call the local GOP office, ask them if there's a chance, let us know what you find.
