I like the guy that played Hank Rearden in the first, but this one looks better overall. Hope the message covers more than the first one missed out on.

haven't seen the first one. i think its on netflix. will watch.
i didn't think they were going to finish the movie series?

I'd like to think it only had up to go from the bottom, part 1 was one of the worst movies I'd ever seen. Lifetime TV and Syfy had more realistic, heart grabbing movies than the first!

I saw Part One. I don't think it was horrible - but it wasn't particularly good, either. That's pretty much what I expected. I doubt Part Two will be any different.

The problem is that, by its nature, Rand's fiction just isn't well-suited to cinematic treatment. Her stories are "concrete" representations of highly abstract & very interwoven concepts. Using cinema (pictures & sounds) to convey those representations - instead of (written) words - just doesn't work very well. The result is flat, cold & lifeless.

I enjoyed the first and watched it several times.

I just like putting myself in that world for a moment.

It should have been a teevee miniseries. AMC or some other cable station.

ETA: It would have reached more viewers, and they might have had a larger budget with the ad time they could have sold.

Wish they had not changed the characters. That will make watching the full series at once not as exciting.

I understand why it happens. Just wish it did not.

Don't see why some people didn't like the first - it was a very good movie - waiting on watching part2!

I just hope they don't cut out too many important plot points, like the story of the 20st Century Motor Company (my personal favorite part of the book).

I think they already did. IIRC that was discussed before they find the motor. The movie discussed some of it, not to the extent the book did.

I love the book and I'd rate the first movie a B- but personally wouldn't recommend it unless you've read the book already (though some people who haven't liked it anyway). I intend to watch Part II also, don't know if it'll be at the theater or on blu-ray

Looking fwd

More people serious about the concept of galt's gulch the better off that place will be

The people from Atlas Shrugged spoke at PaulFestival, showed a preview of the movie, and gave away T-shirts. They were all really great people to work with. And I heard that Esai Morales, who is one of the stars of the sequel, is one of us!

I think the struggle of managing industry is maybe not exciting enough for a movie. I'll watch the second one. When we watched the first one my wife got really bored. She hasn't read the book

Yes. It had the look and production values of a made for TV movie. It was a bit disjoint as well. But I enjoyed watching it.

They need to add chase scenes, and explosions, and guns, lots of guns. Average attention span is what, 2 minutes?

I think it could work. Just needs a bigger time canvas. A movie, even 3 movies, is too short. Mini-series could be amazing, with the right script. Give more time for character and idea development.
