Atheists vs. creationists on Blog TV, 3pm est. Sunday June 6th

Lol @ saying there's a consensus.

There's also a consensus on "global warming". I'm sure you're just as confident in that consensus right?

Yeah, and there's a consensus that the earth revolves around the sun. I'm sure you think that's wrong as well, right?

ClayTrainor is 100% correct. Science isn't based on some majority wins type of vote, it's based on evidence.

I'm also an atheist, but it's best not to use harsh language - remember that Ron Paul is a creationist, though he has called evolution a "logical theory" (in Reddit interview)

+1 It's amazing to me how some on this forum will belittle Christians as morons but still follow Ron Paul.

He is saying that scientific consensus doesn't equal fact, not that the scientific consensus is necessarily wrong.

Right.

Neither side can "prove" anything so trying to play hot potato with the burden of proof just shows how weak the atheist side of the equation really is.

Neither side can prove? I think that's wrong. The atheist doesn't have to prove that god doesn't exist, the burden of proof rests with the person who's making the claim. If someone made a claim that dragons are real, would you then turn to the guy next to you and ask him to prove the guy's claim wrong? No, you'd look at the guy making the claim himself and ask for proof. That's how these things work.

Stopped watching after the creator of the video puts words in creationists' mouths. When he used the analogy that you must believe if there is darkness there is light, if there is light there is a sun, if there is a sun you must believe it is lifted up by a crane every morning. Using that analogy for ethics and God you would stop at "if you believe there is light then there is a source" which of course is the sun.

The preacher jumped to the ridiculous conclusion that there must be a moral law giver without any supporting facts, the analogy fits perfectly.

Prove to me that I must accept any morality whatsoever if we live in a universe without a god.

And if we have no universal morality then we have no need to constrain the state so the stronger cannot dominate the weaker.

And if you believe that then you cannot support Ron Paul. So you're on the wrong forum.

Wow, your panties got in a bunch real quick, and only 8 posts in, I don't think you're gonna last long here. (btw your post makes absolutely no sense)

Then answer the question from a 9,000+ post veteran who agrees 100% with the new guy.

You agree that you are forced to accept other people's moralities "if there's no God?" You agree that if God didn't come down and hand his 10 magical commandments to Moses that the government will not need to be constrained? I'm..so sorry. Man, I only wonder what it was like before Jesus arrived and saved everyone from the vile despicable civilization they built. The only people I see forcing anything on anyone are the people claiming absolute authority on the subject, the religious zealots. It's hypocrisy at its finest.

As a Deist, I find both atheists, and those who believe in supernatural entities, and personifications, batshit crazy.

It's all about trying to make sense of what is unknown. I don't think they're crazy, as it's all rather natural, but the tendency to mock and prove the other wrong just hits me as a big ol' prick-waving competition that has little to do with faith or lackthereof.

faith is a bullshit term for "I don't have any evidence to support my claims, but I'm going to blindly believe in this anyway, because I'm an indoctrinated bat shit retard"

Once again, you avoid the question. Give me a good reason why there should me any standard of morality sans the Creator who created us in His image.

Have you not read any Mises, whatsoever? So, is the creator, a woman, a man, black, white, asian? What is 'our image'? The only truth to the universe is that it follows a strict set of universal laws -- God. These laws, are set in motion, like a clock first sets its cogs in motion, and like a clock, all creations, have a designer -- That is God. There are no 'mystical' interventions. Faith does not reveal any facts. Logic, and reason does.

Yes, believing in something you were raised to believe, all of your family and friends believed, and was as natural to you as the fact the world was round or the sky was blue - that you have no reason to doubt - makes you an 'indoctrinated bat shit retard'. Why would anyone ever not listen to you! You're so convincing and persuasive!

You believe people based on how convincing and persuasive they are? Well that explains it, see, I look at the facts.

What is logic?
Why should I listen to this Mises guy?
Have you not read any Marx? He seems to have a conflicting view with this Mises guy.

While I agree with your sentiment, you are missing some important logical observations. Just a thought. You wouldn't look at a computer, and say that it mysteriously existed and that nothing created it.
