Atheism Denies Freedom Of Thought, And Therefore Freedom Itself

Very simply:

And without the foundation for the freedom of thought, there can't be built upon that foundation a free society. True Christianity, philosophically understood by the people, is the last defense for freedom in the world. This is why the more secularized we become, the more we lose our ultimate, philosophical foundation of freedom and liberty. This is what has happened in Europe in the past 200 years and in the extreme examples of the atheist republics of China and the USSR. Tyranny all begins with your philosophical foundation, and when your philosophical foundation itself denies freedom, the results are not surprising.

Not sure I buy it. But the argument that we are a christian nation is not correct. It was George Washington who said the constitution was not a Christian document. You can't ban atheism any more than any other religion. And you don't want to mix the power of church with the power of state. It will end up corrupting the religion every time. That is my belief anyway. a free country has no official religion, and does not ban others beliefs, even if those beliefs go against the freedom principles. But it is an argument I have heard before, and I do agree that Christianity goes along with freedom very well, so do a few others.

Guys, the OP video is only 2:39 long. 2 minutes is not long enough to where you can't open up your mind and at least listen to the argument. This has nothing to do with Christian nation or freedom of religion or anything like that.

Is there a historical example of this true Christianity, which will defend the freedoms of the world? It seems when Christians took their religion out of governance freedoms increased. I take this to be the case for almost all religions. Especially ones with religious law, of course. Which Christianity has.

"Unbelievers cannot even account for why we argue with each other then"

More LOL's

One thing that I want answered by every atheist on here:

If what some people believe in doesn't exist, and/or you simply don't believe in it, why do you all take such offense to a few words printed on a dollar bill, and insist on nitpicking any and every religious context you can find?

If I were an atheist, believing that a higher power does NOT exist, I would simply sit back and laugh and let the people believe whatever they want, it wouldn't bother me that there is "In God We Trust" on a dollar bill. Because I wouldn't believe in God.

So, what's the big deal? Why are so many atheists (not all, and not particularly the ones on RPF, but, in general) so adamant and militant when it comes to bashing religions? Why can't you all take a chill pill and ignore some words or people praying?

Now, don't take my post too personally. I have serious questions and I want serious answers. It boggles my mind that a group of people act the way they do towards something that isn't supposed to exist.

If you are equating Roman Catholicism and the Inquisition with Christianity, then there is your problem. Many Muslim people make this mistake. From my own position, I do not regard Roman Catholicism as Christianity (which is why I can explain and reject the statism that resulted from it).

I argue against the church/state conception of Roman Catholicism just as strongly as I argue against the mosque/state conception of Islam and just as strongly as I argue against the science/state conception in atheism. All lead to tyranny from my Reformed Christian perspective.

By the way, the OP video is explaining the way that atheism is fatally deterministic at the philosophical level. Its presuppositions deny that there can be truly free thinking. It's funny, because all of the people who are LOL'ing in this thread have no response to the objection (and also, they can't explain that they are not free to think something other than "LOL").

yes, it is those scientific atheists who are the crazy ones.

The real truth can be found in the book from the bearded man in the sky who created everything and then proceeded to use a talking snake to change the history of mankind. Oh yeah, and he was born from a virgin. Don't forget that too.

no no, it's not that we're conceding that you're right, but it's merely the fact that we don't have hours a day to waste on some fanatical nutjub preaching the modern-day equivalent of phrenology.

Where does "bearded man" come from? I always wonder that when people say it...hmmm

Because the Bible says that God is spirit:

2 Corinthians 3:17 NASB

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Case in point.

My gosh, you seriously need to calm down. You just proved all of my points. Is it impossible for anyone to be civil anymore (on both sides)?

To be fair, "Atheists don't think" threads are just as offensive to them as "Christers are delusional" threads are to us. Both sides like to keep jabbing fingers into eyeballs here.
