At least one person is dead and two others are injured after a train carrying Republican lawmakers slammed into a garbage truck on Wednesday.

Although train passengers involved in the crash reported only minor injuries, one person who was in the garbage truck at the time of the crash has already died, while another is severely injured, according to an eyewitness account from Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-WI).

BREAKING: Wisconsin Congressman Glenn Grothman (@RepGrothman), who is on the train that hit a truck in West Virginia, tells me one person in the truck is dead and the other seriously injured.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), speaking to CNN via telephone, confirmed that at least one person in the truck died. He also said that two other people in the truck appeared to be “very badly injured.” Flake said that the injured people were outside the truck when they were found, and suggested they were either ejected from the truck due to the crash or were already on the outside of the truck when the crash occurred.

Amtrak has released a statement that claimed there were no reported injuries to passengers on the train, although it made no mention of people who were sitting inside the truck.

“An Amtrak train came into contact with a vehicle that was on the tracks at 11:20 a.m. in Crozet, VA,” Amtrak said. “There are no reported injuries to passengers or crew members.”

Minor damage to the train,, Operator was on the ball,, and on the brakes.

Was the garbage truck driver stupid or suicidal? sounds like his crew survived despite.

Note; Never try to beat the train with a garbage truck.

So was the truck parked on the tracks and why? I see no other way for a train to hit a truck.

Parked or moving?
I would like to see an overhead view..but debris is in the wrong direction,, opposite the trains direction of motion.

Staged crap to get Republicans to support $1.5 trillion stimulus bill.

Old, failing signals (infrastructure) will be blamed for the crash.

Perhaps,,

But it looks like the truck hit the train,, Kamikaze Style.

Debris is in the wrong direction to have been caused by the train.

Has anyone considered it was an attempt to cause a derailment and kill as many GOP members as possible? Just curious

It quite clearly staged. The train would not be stopped before the signal! And the truck wouldn't be BEHIND the train's locomotive. The scene doesn't make any sense. Completely staged. And that's completely ignoring how "timely" such an incident would be.

There's a video here:

TRump did actually seem to stress the word RAILWAYS when listing off infrastructure in the SOTU speech.

Chicago Tribune is reporting that the dead person is the truck driver. Which, oddly enough, hadn't even occurred to me.

Could be that the engine is a rear engine, like this train has, and the direction of the train was from right to left:

The video says it's 'extremely rare' but I think I've seen engines in the back on passenger trains before.. (edit: lol.. actually the "extremely rare" is in reference to the second car on the train, not the engines.. I think engines in the rear is pretty common)

The timeliness I will give you - whether for the infrastructure spending or #ReleaseTheMemo

Don't feed the trolls. Debris flies everywhere when there's a wreck, and it's unlikely the train stopped immediately upon impact.

3 GOP lawmakers tend to injured in Amtrak train accident

The train was en route to an annual legislative conference at the Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia,
when it hit the truck in Crozet, Virginia, which is west of Charlottesville.

Rep. James Comer of Kentucky says the collision destroyed a garbage truck, leaving it "just in pieces."
Comer says Reps. Larry Bucshon of Indiana, Roger Marshall of Kansas and Brad Wenstrup of Ohio came to the aid of crash victims
before emergency personnel -- including a transport helicopter -- arrived.

So it is your position that the locomotive displayed is at the end of the train instead of at the front? Possible but I'd need to see evidence of that. I'm going by what can clearly be seen from all pics and video, while you're pulling things out of your ass and declaring it essentially fact.

Btw, my claim is the same as yours, no a train wouldn't stop immediately on impact. There would have to be an impact in the first place, which is not shown by any evidence so far that I have seen.
