Ask Me Anything: George Donnelly, Shield Mutual PR for KOKESH

I have two questions...first, what would you say the short-term grassroots strategy should be to help Adam, especially with regard to getting his plight the kind of public and media attention it needs? Should we try to enlist the aid of legal and lobbying organizations like Gun Owners of America and Institute for Justice, or should we take more of a direct approach (calling city and county law enforcement and demanding his release, etc.)?

My second question isn't directly related to Adam, but rather Shield Mutual itself. It seems like such a wonderful example of an idea whose time has come, and I was just wondering if there's anything we can do to help it grow. Do you need volunteers or employees in any capacity, and if so, what kind of skill sets would be of the greatest advantage to you?

(1) I think the latter has a greater possibility of impact at this point.

(2) There absolutely is! Right now we need more customers. With customers come not just resources but it enables me to dedicate more time to the business. My vision for Shield Mutual does not include volunteers. Nor does it exactly include employees, though there will be some in the future. I am building a network of freelance professionals that I trust and can rely on. This will keep our efforts highly professional, agile and keep costs under control so we can channel the maximum amount of funds and impact into defending our customers and advancing our vision for a peaceful, libertarian and egalitarian society.

No. Adam is currently only facing Virginia state charges and they're not related to the July 4th video. When and if he is charged in DC for something related to that, our strategy will evolve.

So was it Virginia SP or USPP that executed the warrant? Who's swat team was it?

Do we have a copy of the SEARCH warrant?

Do we have a copy of the SEARCH warrant?

US Park Police attacked Adam's home with support from Herndon, Virginia police. Reportedly, only Park Police entered Adam's home, so it was their paramilitary police that painted him with red dots and kicked him.

Yes, we have a copy of the search warrant and I expect to release it soon at FreeAdam.net.

US Park Police claim to have discovered psychedelic mushrooms at Kokesh's residence, according to a July 10 USA Today article. These are a natural fungus that, according to Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psilocybin_mushroom), has been used by humankind for religious, psychological and recreational purposes since prehistoric times.

Entheogens have been used in a ritualized context for thousands of years; their religious significance is well established in anthropological and modern evidences.

The main impediment to him getting legal counsel up until today was the court itself, in my opinion. A court-appointed attorney has been appointed for him and is working on his behalf. We are working on finding the best attorney to continue forward now.

Are you in contact with this "court-appointed attorney".? And can some kind of release be arranged.. (Bail?)

I can understand Adam not trusting a court-appointed attorney, they work for the court system and have a dismal track record.

But at least get him released so he can prepare and present a defense.

The judge decided to grant Adam bail of $5,000. I have no word yet on whether Adam will accept it or not.

Adam is GIVING the "non aggression principle" a rally point.

See it for what it is.
He's thrown himself into the system FOR LIBERTY.

Adam didn't put himself in jail just to get bailed out.
He put himself in jail so LIBERTY can have its day in court.

The legal defense we afford Adam is money spent on legal precedence in:

"non aggression principle"
"end the drug war"
"stop the swat tactics"
"molon labe"
