ARLINGTON, Va. - (Business Wire) According to opensecrets.org, the top three contributors to Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul’s campaign are from the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force respectively.

“No matter how you measure it, Dr. Paul has the support of our nation’s brave servicemen and women,” said Kent Snyder, Ron Paul 2008 campaign chairman. “His message of a strong national defense, and only going to war with a declaration of war – as mandated by the Constitution – resonates with those who risk their lives to defend that Constitution.”

No branch of the military appears among the “top contributors” to GOP frontrunner John McCain’s campaign.

Additionally, Ron Paul’s military contributions are greater than those of all other current candidates – John McCain, Mike Huckabee, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama –combined.

The “Top Contributors” figures can be found at www.opensecrets.org.

Great Post

VERY COOL WEB SITE WITH TONS OF INFO... I RE-POSTED ON STUMBLE UPON...THANKS AGAIN!! :D

I am proud to be one of the Air Force members who contributed many times to his campaign. We all swore to uphold the Constitution, that oath is not taken lightly. It proves that the military is not full of warmongers. Our leadership has to play the game and act like they support it but I would bet you that most of them see what long deployments multiple times has done to their men/women and their families and ask themselves "for what?" Especially those of us who actually deploy and put ourselves in danger. I bet a lot of those in the military that are pro-war have never seen Iraq or Afghanistan.

I've brought this fact up in conversations with so-called Conservative radio talk show hosts.

They don't care.

I don't mind most of them but with all honesty how many of them served a day in the military? It is easy to sit back home safe in the states and be pro war, but when you are participating in it things are different.

I vaguely remembered reading that Mccain's top 3 donors were lobbyists & lawyers. Does anyone remember exactly what Mccain's top 3 were?

Ya, I agree, I don't think I've met many people during my career, especially out here, that are "pro war". I've been over here twice and have seen the amount of waste that are our tax money is being spent on, permanent buildings, etc. Besides the strain of the these long deployments, my biggest reason for wanting to get out of here is monetary. Though I don't support the majority of reasons for the war I could accept staying here for a little while longer if we were working on an exit plan, but judging from what I've seen, the gov't isn't planning on leaving any time soon.

Thank you for serving.

I wonder myself how many tours will be one too many. I would not want to be a politician in Washington when that breaking point has been reached.
