The Arizona Central reports that Britney Spears is in talks to star in a move about the deaths of Channon Christian and Chris Newsom, two white college students who were allegedly carjacked, kidnapped, raped, tortured, and killed last year in Knoxville, Tennesse by five African-Americans.

I don't see how this can be true, since the murders were completely ignored by the mainstream media. I don't see Hollywood touching the story now. However, this is a reputable mainstream news outlet, and the story has been widely published internationally. Is it possible a hoax could receive such wide circulation so quickly?

It's not racist when you target white people, everyone knows that.

They're making a movie - what kind of movie? Is it a pornography? Or just a movie about it?

I'm sorry, but this doesn't sit right with me. Movies like this desensitize the world to the true horrors of rape, and that is disgusting.
 
let me guess, the movie will depict the two white college students as being klan members and the black guys that carjacked them as being heroes, a la Rodney King
 
Folks, in debating the racial over/undertones of the film and the real story, we're ignoring a very important fact:

This movie is going to be a piece of shit, regardless of the nuances of content.

I just did a follow-up Google news search, and nobody else has picked this up, so I'm saying it's a hoax. "Ghetto Bragging Rights"? "Knoxville Sex Party"? This can't be real.

The reason I didn't call hoax immediately was because I wouldn't put it past the entertainment media to do a story on the Channon Christian murder with their usual spin (either by reversing the races of all involved or by whitewashing the crimes and sullying the character of the victims), just to rub it in the faces of the small minority who is aware of the crime. Since the original crime received no mainstream media attention, writers would have carte blanche to trash Channon and Chris, and 99.9+% of viewers would be none the wiser.

Shows like Law & Order have a history of ripping stories from the headlines but reversing the races. When L&O Criminal Intent did a story based on the Duke Lacrosse hoax last year, they did a complete reversal: the lying stripper wasn't played by a black actress, but the sympathetic athletic figure falsely accused of rape was played by a black actor. This was certainly deliberate.

Yeah, I love how whenever a black person commits a crime the media always leaves the race of the perpetrator out of the article and doesn't show a picture, but when it's a white person they have no problem mentioning their race and showing a picture of them with the article.

The reason is the media does not want to perpetuate the stereotype that non-whites in America are more likely to commit crimes, even though it's a true stereotype, because that would make the media look racist. And we all know racist is the worst thing you can be.
