(Arguably) Even MORE Epic Than the Ron Paul Action Figure...

Me too. :( But I hope he's looking down on the libertarian remnant right now, seeing all the great successes we've had the last few years, and that he's grinning from ear to ear.

Can you imagine if he were able to be in the presidential debates? As much as I love Ron, there is no doubt that Harry was a much better articulator. His vast knowledge of history and economics allowed him to wipe the floor with his opponents. Harry would have had those other candidates cowering under their podiums.

Cool! Have you ever thought of making Ron Paul sculptures? I know most of us would buy 'em. Either way, the competition between you and this other sculptor would spur *both* of you into doing better and more efficient work. Of course, consumers would reap the benefits of that also! :)
I did start a painting of RP in '07 that I never finished. I prefer sculpture... hadn't thought of doing one until I read your post just now! It's a lot easier with a live model but I seriously doubt I could get RP to be still that long. And I do not have access to a foundry, so what material could I use? Best I could do I guess would be make a plaster cast and sell it, reserving royalty rights.

Tough crowd. All I can say is that it's the second head I've ever sculpted.... I'm really pretty new at this. (...I'm sure Suzu c.1969 could teach me a thing or two.)

But frankly, I think I packed a lot of detail into a head the size of a fist...

And I've actually adjusted the eyes a bit in a more recent mold. (responding to feedback) They were too recessed in the original.

One of the things it's hard to account for when you're sculpting someone in clay, is that the finished product is going to be glossy and reflective (although my statues appear less shiny in person). But you can see in this picture, that the original clay sculpt has a dull finish (like skin does)...

It's one of the handicaps of giving statues a metallic finish... Anyway, I'll get better. Thanks for your thoughts.

Yeah, the eyes need to be as 'real' and 'natural' as possible.

Great stuff though :D

Hobb, please don't let the criticisms get you down. I, for one, think you've done an incredibly stellar job! I can't wait to see what new designs you come up with in the future (Lysander Spooner would make a helluva subject if you could scare up enough photos. :) )

Please do keep up the great work!

I would buy it and still might but the likeness is a bit off, mostly around the eyes.

Cant be easy. Im sure this guy had a tough time as well:
