Someone had a thread about them staying republican, and I thought it would be an interesting poll. Please give your reasons as well.

I'm staying republican. I want to start up my own local Republican Liberty Caucus in my town. If you haven't heard about it: http://rlc.org

Check it out! Paul used to be the chairman.

vote for the right people, run in the party that gives you the biggest voice.

who cares what party that is at what time.

who cares who you are affiliated with?
Luckily, in IL here we are affiliated with whatever party we last chose to vote in the primaries of.

So I won't vote here, because i don't care about my afiliation, it doesn't have an impact.

I see no reason to switch parties. The LP has been broken for a long time.

I realize that Ron will reamin or wants to remain republican for the sake of Congress, but he also said that the GOP deserves to be punished. To me there's no better way but to just leave the party all together. They need to feel the pain.

That's why I'm thinking about the RLC. We get to use the Republican name, but the party gets none of my funds. Also, on their website they state that a lot of their members will vote libertarian before they vote republican.

I am liberal. The only reason why I jumped on Paul's bandwagon was due to his unique and unheard of position, which I assumed may work. So, yeah, gop is rotten to the core staying in it does not make a difference.

Every party is rotten to the core... except for maybe the libertarians... And they can't get shit done... We have to take over both parties... D and R

now we're talking.

but we already have a foot in the repubicans, so we should start there.

but if you live in a democratic district, go ahead run democratic. democrats are generally pro "social liberty" and most people don't understand "fiscal liberty" so you can breeze right in.

i'm still trying to figure out my best strtegy for infiltrating the parties.

a ron paul-esque candidate can easily win a democratic seat. just hype the unconstitutional wars, the unconsitutional war on drugs, privacy, etc.

we need every congressman and local politician on our side, doesn't matter what party it is.
we will know who is part of the underground Freedom Party.

Parties don't mean anything. Really. If they had any importance then you wouldn't be able to join simply by checking a little box. If they had any importance then you wouldn't be allowed to switch to easily.

republican, the dem's platform does'nt compute will our philosophy

the current republican platform doesn't fit either.

The two party system has successfully split the liberty voters.

alledgedly Republicans = fiscal liberty
alledgedly Democrats = social liberty

PEOPLE, WE NEED BOTH.
We can run on both sides.
There are certain parts of the country that will plainly not vote republican at this point.

We need to infiltrate both corrupt parties.

Agreed.
unfortunately, conservativism has some how recently absorbed illegal wars, no child left behind, war on drugs, etc.

I feel the ISM's have also been corrupted....

The only ism that we need to follow is the freedomism.

I would prefer starting our own party as both of the existing mainstream parties are anti freedom and liberty by supporting policies that seek to impose their will on other people.

As a fiscal conservative, my natural inclination is towards the Republican party but the party seems overwhelmingly dominated by Christians wearing religion on their sleeves and determined to impose their view of reality on everyone else - just can't stand being around those folk, I could never be friends or socialise with most Republicans of that sort so it makes no sense to me to try to change a party dominated by them.

There are plenty of people out there who have dropped out of both parties who have been attracted to the Ron Paul cause and I believe we have just scratched the surface so my vote is for a new party.

I'll be working in the state capital soon. I'll be staying Republican. It makes sense with all the access to the PA GOP I'll have.

Republican: The only vehicle with the ability to bring about the change we desire.

Though, up until a few days ago, I was going to join the Libertarian Party.

I would register independent if my state had open primaries, but it doesn't. So I stay Republican because being independent does nothing but limit my voice... and I don't agree with the dems on very many things....

For me if Ron Paul is not President, I will leave the party and be Independent until they get their shit togeather. I will do anything I can to assist with the future takeover of the GOP by Ron Paul Republicans though. Just need to take a breather from 8 years of horse shit. :(
