In all of the polls, they say "We asked 300 people who identify themselves as likely conservative GOP voters" or something along those lines.

Now that we have over 1,000 forum members I figured this would be a good place to sample the Ron Paul base to see what the makeup is. I am going to start writing some political articles and would like to use this data when covering Paul so please vote!

Edit: Sorry I completely butchered the title of this post.. is it possible for a moderator to fix the horrible grammar?

Whoops! I misread the poll - count 1 yes (the only one so far) as a no. Mea culpa.

I don't understand the question. My answer is yes and no. Yes I'm a conservative GOP voter, but no not me or anyone in my family was ever polled by the MSM.

The poll is not asking if you have been called, it is asking if you identify yourself as a classical conservative GOP member, or the type that would hypothetically get polled. Sorry for the ambiguity.

Yes, please make the poll question more specific. Like, "Do you have a land line that you would answer, are often home to answer it, would participate in a political poll, and would identify yourself as a likely conservative GOP voter to a pollster?"

I have never voted Republican and would not consider myself a classical GOP voter.
I do not have a land line. I have never been polled and would not expect to be.

If I was, though, I'd tell 'em "Ron Paul for President!"

I normally would be, but I stopped donating to the GoP when I found out many GoPers were supporting the amnesty bill.

I would say that for the last twenty some years I've identified myself with the extreme right of the GOP. For all but four of those years I was a registered Republican. Two years in New Mexico I was a Libertarian, and then they told me that there wasn't enough of "my kind" so I had to pick another party, and I'm in Texas now, and you don't affiliate with a party, you just register to vote. Because of the war, I voted democrat last presidential election.

Yes I have a landline.

How would we know if we fit that description?

I've been registered as a Republican for at least 15 years, but I have no idea if that means anyone considers me to be a "classical conservative".

I read the question as "would I be considered as likely to vote in a primary and thus potentially be on a list of people to call for the MSM's polls?" Scratch my "no" vote out.

I thought I was a republican until I woke up and realized that the neo-cons had taken over the country in order to further their interests.

I've been in limbo for the past year or so thinking I might have to vote democratic just to get some sort of change. Thankfully I ran across Ron Paul in around March of this year.

I have always considered myself a Reagan Republican..... although Reagan had great ideas, he didnt really live up to the hype. Once he got in office, he did alot of things opposite of his personal views. Maybe getting shot in 81 sent him a message to "play along or well take you out" I like libertarian ideas, but I could never support the party because they they focus too much on issues like legalizing weed, which i personally support, but is not really an important issue right now compared to economic issues and shrinking government overall. Not to mention that half the libertarians I talk to cant even agree on what liberty is. The party needs work. Until then I will call myself a "classical republican" or "paleo-conservative"

I've never been a GOPer as long as I could vote. I'm a hardcore libertarian of the Free State Project type and will move to NH ASAP. I have no tolerance for anyone, family or not, that endorses the taking of my family's rights and money away.

Always have voted Republican and even been polled at home a few times over the years. Probably the only Republican I ever voted for that I do not regret is Ron Paul as my Congressman.

Now for some Ron Paul inspired honesty...

Voted for Bush in 2000, and Kerry in 2004 in protest. Registered as a Republican, and until discovering Paul, I had been contemplating a change to no party affiliation.

Keep in mind, that depending on what state you live in, you may have to be registered as a Republican to vote for RP in the Primaries.

I've been called and polled on my thoughts of two VA Senate Republican candidates. Unfortunately, at the time, I didn't know crap about VA State politics. (Honestly, I still dunno much).
