to go there. http://northernstar.info/campus/news/article_f7855f58-626c-11e1-a713-001a4bcf6878.html

Youth For Ron Paul NIU is attempting to have the Republican primary candidate appear in DeKalb during his Illinois visit next week.
The group hopes to persuade Ron Paul to add a DeKalb county stop.
“We hope to get Ron Paul to stop by either March 6 or 7 during his tour of Illinois.” said Ryan Michie, senior psyschology major and director for the Ron Paul Campaign in DeKalb County.
The group created a petition asking Paul to add a DeKalb stop to his tour. The petition asks for signatures from NIU students and local residents, Michie said.

If he's going next week makes more sense to do West Central Illinois (Quincy, for example) where he'll draw people from MO and IL. The former has its caucus coming up soon.

There's a 2k+ venue in Quincy.

College campuses in Illinois are perfect campaign stops:

-Deadline to register to vote is March 13
-Open primary
-Early voting has begun

Ron Paul needs to tell everyone at his rallies go to the polls on election day and VOTE FOR HIM! Otherwise his rallies are nothing more than fun pep rallies with the right answers but no voter turn out.

The deadline to register was 2-21.

I know because I live here and put it off until the last second.

Early voting has begun but he isn't getting anyone to register.

As for the thread, from what i've been told (I work in media here in Chicago) every college in the state (at least their students) are practically begging Ron Paul to pick their school instead of the other...

Have you heard of "Grace Period' registration?

http://www.elections.state.il.us/Downloads/ElectionInformation/PDF/registervote.pdf

The 7th day before the election is March 13.

Yes I have but Im also at city hall every day in Chicago...

They make it hell to get through the grace period (it could be different outside of the city) and there's a bunch of pre-reqs they ask for before you can even fill out the registration forms.

I hope and pray he can get people to register but i'm not holding my breath. The one thing he has working for him is a very very strong base of support here in Chicago. I read somewhere he gets more donations from Chicago than any other city, not sure if that's true but he has a crazy following.

His campaign here in the state was holding Ron Paul debate watching parties and the first one got about 50 people, the second one got about 400, and they couldn't even hold the 3rd one.

I think he'll clean up in Illinois, of course I thought that about a lot of states so we'll see...

Yeah, it seems like the energy is great when he speaks, but only 1% show up to vote for him. Been about the norm.

As a resident of the state, he probably won't win the straw poll.

The importance is doing well with our delegates at the election box and the conventions.

Illinois?? Kansas Caucuses are March 10! Why would he go to Illinois next week??

Illinois:
-Early voting has begun
-Open primary
-Deadline to register still two weeks away

Kansas:
-Closed caucus
-Deadline to register already passed

There would be a high level of irony should Paul win Illinois, considering that Obama is from there and Paul is the only person that polls show can actually beat Obama in a general election...

Re: Illinois, you're technically right. However it's a little less convenient now. You can still register to vote in Illinois up until March 13, by completing what is considered a "grace period" registration. This requires you to register in person at your county clerk's office, at which time you must fill out your primary ballot as well. So you're registering to vote, and also voting on the spot.

It's the same process everywhere I imagine, but here's Chicago as an example: http://www.chicagoelections.com/page.php?id=14

So the short of it: If you live in Illinois and are not registered to vote but still want to vote, find your county on this website and go in person to your county clerk's office before March 13! - http://www.evoter.com/il/register-to-vote
