Apmex can't keep up with demand

So where's the next best place to buy from other than Apmex? They're where I've made my last couple silver purchases.

Kitco and BullionDirect are the two I have seen listed.

Kitco is having problems now though.........But I think I have heard others complain about their site even on normal days.

If the trend continues a week from now.....mainly people overpaying on silver on the bay......then get worried.....

But right now a major dip just occured....it should adjust in the next two to three days.......

If you can't get silver close to spot on ebay in another week....then you might have reason to be suspicious....the smaller buyers have not adjusted to the bigger ones.....I would be willing to bet I can buy PLENTY $10 face value silver US coins for within $1.00 spot this coming week.....and will if it is at $16-$17/ounce, I have a $1000 to spend right now which has been budgeted for this purchase....I am just waiting for the best time to buy and it is coming soon IMHO.......

So, my local guy has silver eagles in stock again - he wants $440 a roll.

So out of curiousity, I called a Buffalo dealer and got his price. He quoted me $425 a roll.

What dealer did you have in mind in Buffalo? I'm skeptical that anybody is selling at $400 in small volumes today.

Id get them from your local dealer,, saving on the shipping and delivery time makes up the difference. I always wondered why some people brag about the low prices they are getting where they are at, in the end it wont matter much. Have a suspicion that Buffalo kid is an EBAY seller.

I'm not paying $440 when silver is listed at 16.71 an ounce.

I didn't plan on buying, but when I see prices down at 16.71, it practically demands I buy.

Silver Shortage: 19 dealers reported "Sold Out"

Received this email a bit ago:

1:30p ET Thursday, March 20, 2008

Dear Friend of GATA and Gold:

Jason Hommel of Silver Stock Report is getting word of shortages of silver at dealers around the world. Of course there doesn't seem to be any shortage of promises of silver on the commodities exchanges and in the exchange-traded funds, and if you buy only promises, you often don't have to pay storage fees, which is very convenient -- especially for the people selling imaginary silver. You can find Hommel's report, "Silver Shortage: 19 Dealers Reported Sold Out," at GoldSeek's companion site, SilverSeek, here: http://news.silverseek.com/GoldIsMoney/1205995646.php

This is the clearest evidence of paper short selling manipulation that I've ever seen since I started watching the silver market back in 1999, and I've seen a lot of evidence!

No it has everything to do with what I said.....I could purchase Silver eagles today for $20 dollars (From a coin store 3 blocks away....not the best coin store in Buffalo....just the closest).....not $29 dollars or any of the other ridiculous prices you have quoted.......

If there are a few idiots on ebay who think they can affect market price by bidding on their own auctions on ebay to create false demand.......well....good luck.....

Just got back online to read that everybody is seeing what I was talking about with Silver. Eagles are backordered at most places now.

Let us know how that $20 Silver Eagle purchase works out for you next week. :p

Yeah, eagles are on backorder from the mint as they have run out of supply. The US mint says they will be coining more asap and expect to send out shipments to dealers in mid-April. I actually just snagged 40 SAE's @ ~19.52/ea with shipping from bulliondirect. Not too bad and I don't mind waiting til' mid-April... gotta wait forever and a day for the check to clear anyway

I didn't go with the silver eagles.....I bought pre 1965 silver coin for $120 for $10 face in silver coins......

A better deal.......and no wait til april like bullion direct......

Just to elaborate I bought.....

3 Rolls 1964 US Quarters........
3 Rolls 1963 US quarters.......
4 Rolls Mixed Pre 1965 US Dimes.......

Total cost.....$960......

Cost per ounce.....7.234 OZ (Per $10 face) x$80 Face = 57.872 OZ

$960/57.872 OZ= $16.59/OZ.....JUST LIKE I SAID......

There are DEFINATELY REGIONAL SHORTAGES (Thats what driving ebay) and for American Eagles and Canadian Maples...But NOT in junk silver where I am......The WORLD and NATIONAL shortagaes will come soon....BUT NOT YET.......Keep Buying what you can and afford on this dip!!!!!!

Oh yes I AM AN EBAY seller.....But not in Gold and Silver.......

That is why I understand ebay........

In Gold and Silver I am a BUYER only (Actually once I sold two rolls of pre 1965 quarters when they were around $100/roll....but that is ALLL the silver I have ever sold on ebay....and I have NEVER sold any gold on ebay).....and I will NOT dispute the fact that silver is selling way more than it should on ebay......

But I also realize ebay is a SMALL percantage of silver sales.....

I am not bragging about the price I paid.....Just the fact that while YOU may not be able to buy silver for close to spot from Ebay or your local dealer.....There are MANY places you can.....

.999 coins will always sell more per OZ than Junk silver like pre 1965 US coins....I thought $20 was a bit much when I could buy junk silver slightly under spot.....

I have no doubt this dip won't last long......so that is why I bought now what I had to spend......

But I am also NOT someone who bought into silver at $20.60/OZ who is doing everything to promote there is a worldwide shortage at this moment to try to raise the price in the short term......I have limited capital and and the best thing to do is buy on the dips (If you can identify when a dip should occur) because of that.....I predicted in another thread it would come down to the $16/$17 range and I WAS RIGHT....When you have limited capital, the smart way to go is to buy on the dips rather than the peaks and I have consistenly been able to predict the dips which has served me well.

There are REGIONAL shortages...and In time there will be national shortages and world shortages if nothing remains unchanged......

The dip in price is nothing more than your signal to buy at reduced price and get ready for the new record highs in the fall........
