I also doubt your story. The "racist" theme has ONLY been picked up by second-rate bloggers that you would have to know to google in order to find these accusations.

The average SHEEP doesnt' care about politics, doesn't know enough about Ron Paul to know he's been accused by random internet bloggers as a racist.

The average Sheep may or may not watch the national news, which has never bought up these accusations because they aren't true.

It's been covered by every major cable news network multiple times.

It will continue to be covered as long as the campaign allows it to remain an issue.

A competent campaign staff would have figured this out BEFORE entering the presidential race and put together a plan to deal with it. This is sheer incompetence. It's an actual sign that they never had any expectation of running a serious campaign.

I feel like I've hit a roadblock while doing my canvassing as a precinct leader. I'm having a REAL tough time convincing people that our good Dr. Paul is NOT a racist.

Unfortunately, I can't provide them any proof that Ron Paul DIDN'T write those articles.

The newsletter flap is a hitpiece aimed at Lew Rockwell NOT Paul. RP and us are collateral damage in a family feud between the beltway neolibertarians and the Ludwif Von Mises institute. However, after 30 years in the public spotlight as a politician, nobody has been able to come up with a single soundbite of Ron Paul saying anything remotely racist.

The writer of the original article has had his credibility and motives questioned. He is a staunch RG supporter and is known around DC as a professional muckraker.

Ron Paul has made it clear that, as a strict constitutionalist, he is for protecting every single citizen's God given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - regardless of color or belief.

It would be more than fine with me if someone is willing to come forward and claim responsibility for this and clear Ron Paul's name once and for all. But to ask why everyone is hating on the attackers? Because they don't care one whit about racism is why, this is a smear attempt pure and simple.

Unfortunately I can't argue for the tactics of the campaign leadership and I agree that as long as this issue is left open the more damage it does. But honestly do you think the MSM needs any real reason to attack Ron Paul? If it weren't this it would be something else as absurd. Politics is a dirty business, especially when one is standing essentially alone against the establishment as Ron Paul is doing.

I just argue that real Ron Paul supporters shouldn't be distracted by this blatant smear attack by those who are opposed to the ideas that Ron Paul has championed his entire political career. And yes I mean CATO, which is more interested in maintaining it's connections to power than in spreading the message of freedom.

This is a good thread, but sadly there is no material for you to gather to support Dr. Paul, because he is not really defending himself. Yes, its' frustrating. Here is my speal on this, the plan from National is to ignore it, and have Dr. Paul address it once, and they figure it will blow over. WRONG! Again, as other posters have suggested it comes down to National being clueless about a National Race.

Here it is, hate filled letters written in Ron Paul's Newsletter... he excuse that he didn't about it at the time, and that he doesnt' know who the writer is wouldn't fly. We wouldn't let any other candidate give such a lame excuse, and neither will the Media give Dr. Paul a pass on this.

Personally, I think he is innocent.. but he needs to find out WHO wrote these letters and expose them.. or it's K.O. for the movement (not just Dr. Paul.)

I will not be a cheerleader for Ron again until he addresses this in a serious manner and out the ghostwriter.

He's being more loyal to the ghostwriter than he is to us, and to many people worked to hard for that. It makes him look like an idiot when he says, "I have no idea who wrote them."

Just tell the people that Ron Paul is the highest polling Republican among blacks. He's the only one that doesn't want to murder brown-skinned people in the middle east. The other Rep candidates make more racist comments in each debate than all the racist comments in all the newsletters combined.

Also tell the people that Ron Paul gets more support from active military personel and veterans than any other candidate.

There, I said it. I can not support a racist. if he wouldn't defend himself and tell us who wrote these letters than I for one will stop supporting him.
