A power outage hit Toronto's financial district Thursday, turning off the electricity in several of the biggest commercial buildings, affecting as many as 100,000 people.
The Toronto Stock Exchange building was also hit, but a backup generator took over.
"It's totally business as usual," TSX spokeswoman Carolyn Quick told Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).
"Our offices here in the Exchange Tower are dark, but trading and data operations are totally unaffected."
Toronto Hydro said the RBC tower, Go Transit headquarters and First Canadian Place are among the buildings without electricity.
It will probably be several hours, according to Toronto Hydro, before full power is restored. No reason has been given for the blackout.
Toronto's financial district is also Canada's financial heart, housing numerous banking companies, corporate headquarters, high-powered legal and accounting firms, insurance companies and stockbrokers.
