Anyone ready to apologize to biggie10 yet?

Let me first say that as a long-time lurker/first-time poster, I realize I'm making a huge mistake by making my first post controversial. So if you're one of the many "Senior Members" that take the position that "noobs" don't have the right to an opinion, you may want to skip reading what follows.

Over the past week, I was following a couple of posts by someone calling himself/herself "biggie10". biggie10 was making the argument that the newsletters would a)continue to be hammered on by the MSM and b)eventually drag down the overall movement of small government/libertarian thinking by associating it with racism and conspiracy theory.

biggie 10 was immediately attacked from all sides. I saw posts stating that biggie10 molests little boys and other such witty statements, posts stating that biggie10 was dead wrong in his/her analysis and should shut up, posts stating that the story wasn't going anywhere in the media, and posts asking for mods to ban biggie10. Apparently that campaign was successful because I haven't seen anything from biggie10 since that day. One of the last posts I saw from biggie10 stated that he/she would be accepting apologies in a few days when he/she was proven right.

Well, it's been a few days, so let's see.....yup, there have been more and more stories about it (CNN, MSNBC, Houston Chronicle, Dallas Morning News, Washington Post, etc.), we're hearing more newsletters will be out soon, and now we're treated to the following from the official blog of the Cato Institute in reference to Dr. Paul and the authors of the newsletter:

Succeeding beyond his wildest dreams, he became the most visible so-called “libertarian” in America. And now he and his associates have slimed the noble cause of liberty and limited government.

Sounds oddly familiar...almost exactly the argument biggie10 was making.....which begs the question, Is anyone ready to apologize to biggie10 yet?

Now I know I'm about to feel the wrath of the same folks who tore into biggie10 for having the audacity to point out some unpleasant truths. I'll probably be banned, which I find extremely ironic.....being banned from this forum where the members are supposed to be the type of people who abhore the idea of dissenting voices being silenced and who champion those who speak the truth even when it's unpopular. I hope I'm wrong, though. I hope for every person here who will call me a troll and request that I be banned, there will be at least one other person to stand up for my right to express an unpopular point of view on this difficult position we've found ourselves in.

my honest take:

The only reason these letters continue to linger is because a) folks have too much time on their hands; b) it's just unbelievable that a man can have nearly 20 years of history without having ANYThing bad said about or by him; c) People have difficulty facing the truth:

WAKE THE FUCK UP!

America is BROKE! Only ONE man has the foresight, knowledge and character to handle our mess! ONLY ONE MAN is COMMITTED to fighting the powers that be, and returning us to the glorious rule of the Constitution; RON PAUL!

GET OFF THIS SHIT and GO FIND VOTERS! OTHERWISE WE'LL BE AT WAR, CIVIL WAR, FOR OUR COUNTRY AGAIN!

Don't know who this biggie10 fellow is.

But it has always been apparent to me that the Media would make a big deal out of this Newsletter eventually. I don't think anybody that had good knowledge of the campaign doubted the media would use it to smear Paul.

I doubt that it's having a very negative effect on the campaign, it may cast doubts in some people's mind, but these are usually people that already hate Dr. Paul, and are receptive of anything the media peddles as truth.

Dr. Paul is not a racist and the issue has been debunked. This is simply something that they can bring up and the only thing Dr. Paul can say is, "I'm sorry, I take responsibility for what was written under my newsletter".

Much like Huckabee getting his son out of trouble for animal abuse. Except that nobody can prove Dr. Paul's guilt, whereas Huckabee they can.

I'm not really sure what your trying to get at here, but if I'm supposed to be apologizing for supporting Dr. Paul, then no, I'll never do that.

Well... here's the deal. There are people who are spending millions of dollars to discredit other people, and also making attempts to splinter their support.

Think they don't pay people to post on message boards? I'm pretty sure they do. So, there's good reason to be suspicious of people who sign up and create turmoil... and even people who have been registered for awhile and one day start trying to create turmoil.

Your simplistic idea that it's about noobs having opinions... well, that's stupid, noob, but you're entitled to your opinion.

I personally was browsing the boards for at least a month and a half before I created an account, don't go by the account creation date for how long someone has been reading the boards.

This wouldn't go away unless Ron Paul answers the question... who wrote the letters. This isn't small town, congressional electioin here; his answer wouldn't suffice if he wants to win. The country will not elect a President who is an open bigot. Why doens't he just find out who wrote the letters and tell us?

If they were really just out to "get" Ron Paul wouldn't we have seen some other indications of that before these letters came out? Like maybe some name calling and laughing and insinuations of mental illness and all manner of blackouts and well.. at least SOME thing would have been noticeable besides these letters.

If the media had in any way been less than fair to Doctor Paul aside from this terrible brand new scandal then perhaps I would be inclined to think maybe they are grasping at straws. As it is given the exemplary and consistent demonstrations of equity and fair play conferred upon our universally esteemed candidate the only conclusion I can reach is..

Cato's Mission

Gee, "broaden the parameters of public policy..."? "...achieve greater involvement..."?

That's all well and fine, but those don't sound like the words of an organization that actually wants to see the Federal government shrink back to it's Constitutionally mandated size.

Those sound like the words of an organization that likes it's connections to power.

When I see Cato calling for the elimination of the IRS, changing the foreign policy of the United States from one of global empire and war to securing the borders and non-interventionism then maybe I'll respect them.

Again to quote from their website, "Our greatest challenge today is to extend the promise of political freedom and economic opportunity to those who are still denied it, in our own country and around the world."

Err, no. Our greatest challenge today is to reduce the size and scope of the Federal government that is rapidly approaching a critical mass where it will either impose a harsher police state on us or collapse in financial ruin.

Ron Paul might not even believe it is possible to stop the coming economic collapse, but at least with his leadership and the help of like minded politicians we can minimize the damage and recover from it a quickly as possible.

I convinced my friend in NH, who is typically apolitical, to vote for RP in the primary. I saw him last night, and he told me he did, "even though he is sort of racist". Anyone who thinks this isn't a huge problem for the campaign is deluding themselves.

Focusing about the letters diverts many from the warning message that RP is trying to get out, the dollar is becoming worthless and we will all suffer greatly for it.

Tainting someone on something they did or did not directly do in the past is a powerful propaganda tool and causes people to instantly dismiss the other things they stand for.

FDR jailed thousands of Japanese-Americans but is the hero to many progressives. FDR is a racist bigot because he allowed that to happen. He didnt intern any Germans and was elected to 4 terms. Now people that like FDR hearing this are put instantly on the defensive, hard to convince someone that he was a great president when someone hears this.

The race card is the most powerful in the deck and is pulled when all else fails to convince people from understanding the truth. With 29% independents going for RP in Iowa he is a threat in primaries attracting democratic leaning voters and the GOP powers seeing people switch has not gone unnoticed. Especially Florida and Michigan where the Dems can easily crossover and vote for RP.

What is more undigestable to democrats and independents than war is racism. The GOP powers know they control many in the base but RP is a thorn with bringing in new independents and democrats to the lower turn out caucuses. Why is the NEW REPUBLIC bringing up these letters?

Ron Paul has fought off democrats being supported by GOP powers in his own district in Texas, the democrat was even endorsed by George Bush. This has GOP powers written all over it. The same GOP powers that said WMD are in Iraq when there were none can easily bring up past letters where there was no clear writer that was responsible for it.
