Anyone else worried that the IRS will come for us?

I've heard in the past that the IRS has been used to punish people after a new administration takes office. If this really happens, it's one more reason that I hope Dr. Paul wins.

I sometimes think that the primary reason that donor information must be turned in to the FEC and made public is for the explicit reason of providing a list of people to punish to the winning administration.

Sorry for the double-post of this thread - my connection timed-out and I hit post twice thinking that I have not clicked it...

LOL - Sorry. Every time I donate, when I have to enter my name and employer, I can't help but think about this. I was just wondering if anyone else thought about it...

Not exactly the time and place for this, Will. C'mon man.

Luckily, unlike most campaigns, there are already 100,000 of us.

Will they? I doubt it. even if they do, they are going to be messign with a pretty powerful movement... if we can stay together in defeat

(I know, I know, defeat that is impossible to happen... ;) )

Yes

Yes, I think about it as well. I honestly do not think that this is the reason for instituting these rules, but you know for sure that any information they can get their hands on, they will use. And certainly not to the favor of the citizens. More reasons to elect Ron Paul.

Just as a side note, something that this triggered, I remember hearing Ron Paul mention in an interview that even if he could not get certain things (Patriot Act) repealed as president, he would still not use the powers authorized by them because they are unconstitutional. Shows the difference here, other politicians jump at the opportunity to monitor us, Paul would ignore it, even if the authority were there (unconstitutionally of course). Just something interesting if that made any sense...

It's not? Why is that? I just donated and couldn't help but wonder about this. So I posted the question. Although it is a true concern of mine, I still donate - about $1000 so far.

It's not improper to pose a question related to donating in a thread that is related to donations.

The scary thing is donating to RP when you work for the federal governmet itself. Also donating from a government computer like me, hah!

Good point. I hadn't thought about the fact that there will be too many for "them" to come after. Yea, we'll "stay together". Something has triggered here - we're only going to get stronger and louder!

Forget it. I'll make a bold statement to the IRS:

I don't like much dealing in Federal Reserve Notes, they just don't tickle me. Gold is ok to deal in, it's heavy, but luggable when you are only as wealthy as I. However, for the IRS, I'll make a special case.....I'll deal in lead. So be careful how much you say I owe you, because I'll pay in full. What's the going rate of lead these days?
