Any Veterans Or Active Military Personnel Up For an Interview?

I write for a website that's geared toward liberty. We have a fairly small base at the moment (between 200-450 views a day) and I wanted to interview some veterans or active military personnel in light of all the foreign policy stuff that the MSM is putting out there. I think this would be both a great thing for my site and for educating people on what the military thinks about Ron Paul's foreign policy.

Anyway, are any of you men and women in uniform interested? This would be a purely text-based interview, so don't worry about going on camera.

Shane,

I appreciate the effort, but we're prohibited from doing something like that. DoD Directive 1344.10 4.1.2.6. - "A member of the Armed Forces on active duty shall not:...[p]articipate in any radio, television, or other program or group discussion as an advocate for or against a partisan political party, candidate, or cause."

Mike (US Navy)

Edit - 1344.10 is for those of us on active duty

Well, as far as active duty military, they wouldn't have to give their name. Of course I wouldn't want anyone to do anything they don't feel comfortable doing, so it's up to whoever responds. Welcome to the forums by the way!

Shane, I would consider doing so. I was a PATRIOT Missile Operator for 108th Airborne. We were the first and only unit to deploy to S. Korea since the Korean War, where I served as 1 of 4 primary operators in the unit. Upon returning, I PCS'd to Fort Bragg and for well over a year trained exclusively against the Iranian air threat (highly relevant to nuclear assault capability). I will admit though that I forced a chapter, after realizing the full-extent of what was going on, so I'm not sure how well that will be perceived by some. I would also have to screen questions first, due to OPSEC and clearance concerns, so that I can ensure any answers I give can be referenced by public sources.

I don't post very much. However, I'm here everyday reading these boards. I was in the Army as an Infantryman (Aco 3-15 INF, 3rd ID) from 02-06 and was in Iraq for the invasion and I also went back for another year in 2005. There is a great book called "Thunder Run" that mentions a lot of guys that i'm very good friends with as well as all my commanders. The book is a great read and really describes the invasion of Iraq in very good detail.

Here's a good youtube video. Short but sweet.

I've been supporting Ron Paul since around the 2008 elections and I always love talking foreign policy with people because I've seen first hand the destruction and death that it causes. I always win foreign policy debates with people that support these wars. I find it disgusting how people are so war hungry, but are so quick to send others to do the fighting. Ron Paul cured my apathy, and I've litterly been spreading his message for around 4 years. Sometimes I wonder if it's a lost cause because I live around some real thick headed people. However, slowly but surely some people are really starting to come around. I really believe Ron Paul should point out the support he has from the military because that is a fact people cannot dispute. Often times when used in the right context with war hungry people, Ron Paul's military support is a great way to start chipping away at the wall people have up.
