Antiwar.com: Ron Paul has some pretty vicious enemies inside the Libertarian Movement

Ron Paul actually has some enemies within this is true, some who even work for him at a local level in Houston. Many Democrats supported Ron Paul, not because they believe in America or the Constitution, but because they saw in him an opportunity to "Ross Perot" the Republican party. There are some, motivated by left wing strategists, who see Libertarianism as an opportunity to present open borders/amnesty arguments by exploiting common colloquial misunderstandings of Libertarianism. Many openly mis-represent Ron Paul for the sake of globalist, open borders agendas.

Umm, I would argue open borders is the more libertarian position. Now is it the right position? there is your more debatable assertion. But many open borders libertarians I have seen do support Ron Paul because on the whole his ideas would massively help the philosophy of freedom take root.

Awesome article.

The Beltway libertarians, especially those at Reason magazine and the Cato Institute, have been overtly hostile to the Ron Paul phenomenon from the beginning.

Why is this?

The old party Libertarians don't want to "win". They want to permanently be a small group of smug individuals whom hate the fact that Ron Paul is popular.

Reason and Cato's founders (Koch brothers) hated Mises from the beginning. They don't want to emphasize opposition to Central Bank. That's why for so many years they were opposed to the Mises Institute, Rockwell, Rothbard. They're also opposed to Ron Paul, reflected in the fact that they are donating a lot of money to Trey Grayson and none to Rand Paul. In other words, they see us a bigger enemy than the neocons. Therefore it's obvious they are fake libertarians. For decades they marginalized those who questioned the Fed, which is, along with war, one of the two most important libertarian issues. They're not really good on war either.

As for the reason writers, some of them stick to their guns and publish what they think independently of what their Koch bosses want. Brian Doherty is one example, and he can't be fired because he has a great reputation among reason readers. So when you read reason, you gotta do it carefully, but be aware that the owners hate us more than any other group.
