Every time people discuss how socialism has contributed (to put it mildly) to the suffering in Venezuela we are told that there is no suffering and they are doing just fine.
Whenever the suffering is discussed we are told it is all the fault of the US.

Which is it?

If the empire would just plunder American taxpayers to pay for Prince to raise a small horde of 5,000 mercenaries plus a whole lot of extra money for his bank account, Pyrrhic the hustler Prince promises to to obliterate the Venezuelan military, militia and people as easily as the Dothraki horde obliterated the white walkers.
And if it doesn't work out, it just means the empire must loot Americans to fund 6,000 additional mercenaries plus a whole lot more extra money for Swindler Prince to line his pockets once again.

Whoever says socialism has not contributed Venezuelan economic suffering is a fool. And whoever says the empire's economic and other warfare on Venezuela (sponsored coups, regime change, collusion, interference, NGO's disruptions, economic warfare, sanctions, economic blockade via sanctions and threats to other nations, outright stealing Venezuelan assets, sabotage, etc) has not contributed to Venezuelan economic suffering is also a fool or worse.

Any form of socialism/economic statism is doomed to cause more harm to the people, including socialism by Washington's BFFs and US socialism itself. If a country acts to harm itself, that is no justification for Washington to cause additional harm to the people. Venezuela socialized its oil industry and some utilities. But so has Washington's satraps and vassals such as BFF's Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Argentina, Mexico, even Canada socialized large swaths of its petroleum industry. USA itself has extreme central planning socialized programs (Social Security, Medicare, Unemployment, Obamacare, Federal Reserve, an Alphabet soup of agencies, subsidies, special interest tariffs, and a list of others that could fill a book) causing severe harm to the U.S. economy and people that it should be focused on eliminating.

Venezuela on socialism is like a sickly fat man in poor health due to his bad health choices. Washington’s sanctions, theft, seizures, financial blockade, is like going up to that sickly man and cracking his kneecaps with a metal bar and then saying – “see what your poor health choices did.” Yes the sick man is responsible for his own poor health choices, but Mr. Washington is still responsible for kneecapping the man, regardless of his poor health choices.

Those pesky Russians. If they are aren't invading us with cute whales then they are terrorizing us with singing crickets, puppies, pokemon, and humor - all according to what is supposed to pass as journalism in the US "MSM" aka the empire's propaganda relations outlets.

FAIR (Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting) Study Finds US Corporate Media Opinion Pieces Uniformly 100% in Support Venezuelan Regime Change. Imaging that

Zero Percent of Elite Commentators Oppose Regime Change in Venezuela

A FAIR survey of US opinion journalism on Venezuela found no voices in elite corporate media that opposed regime change in that country. Over a three-month period (1/15/19–4/15/19), zero opinion pieces in the New York Times and Washington Post took an anti–regime change or pro-Maduro/Chavista position. Not a single commentator on the big three Sunday morning talkshows or PBS NewsHour came out against President Nicolás Maduro stepping down from the Venezuelan government. ...

From the Saker: Behold the Breathtaking Weakness of the Empire!

The Empire has suffered painful defeats in Afghanistan and Iraq … The Empire also appears to have lost control of Libya … We also saw all the pathetic huffing and puffing with the DPRK. But, let’s be honest, the USA never stood a chance to bully the DPRK into submission, nevermind invading or regime-changing it. Syria was much weaker, but here Russia, Iran and Hezbollah did a world class job of repelling all the AngloZionist attacks, political and military. …

But Venezuela?!
No Hezbollah or Iran backing Maduro there. And Venezuela is way too far away from Russia to allow her to do what she did in Syria. … Venezuela is in the proverbial “backyard” of the USA and is surrounded by hostile puppet regimes. And yet … US puppet Guaidó has failed in his coup attempt.

Moon of Alabama did a great job covering the events of the day … “Venezuela – Random Guyaidó’s New Coup Attempt Turns Out to Be A Dangerous Joke“. …

the truly breathtakingly pathetic weakness of the clowns who launched this latest failed operation: Pompeo and Mr MAGA. … Let’s begin with Pompeo. According to him, the coup failed because of Russia (what else is new?)! Not only that, but Maduro had already decided to run to Cuba, but then the Russians stopped him. Really? … Maduro is safe in Caracas and the coup plotters are on the run. ... only a loser and imbecile like Pompeo could come up with such a lame excuse in a desperate attempt to “cover his ass” and blame his failure on the Neocon’s favorite scapegoat: Russia.

Now let’s check what his boss had to say:
Selection_550.jpg

Trump does not blame Russia. Instead, he blames Cuba! I don’t know what kind of silly scenarios Mr MAGA ran in his head to come up with “the Cubans did it” but that is even more ridiculous than “the Russians did it”. … In the real world, however, Cuba did nothing of the sort. But, really, who cares?!

In the Empire of Illusions fact don’t matter. … In the case of Venezuela, spin alone failed.

So what’s next? According to the typical scenario revealed to us by John Perkins, the next step should be a full-scale US invasion. … Eric Prince wants Blackwater to send 5,000 mercenaries to Venezuela … Prince would have never made this offer in the first place if the US military was up to the task. It is not, and Prince knows that very well. …

As for Maduro, he seems to have the support not only of a majority of his people, but of the Venezuelan armed forces. As for the armed forces, they are clearly enjoying the support of the people. This is a very bad combination for the Empire. …

this is not about Chavez or Maduro, this is about the rule of law inside and outside Venezuela. This is about the people of Venezuela, even the suffering ones, not willing to renounce the sovereignty of their country. … to deliver the country to the Empire would mean crushing any hope of true, real, people power. The Venezuelan people apparently have no illusions about their Yankee neighbors and they don’t want the Empire-style “democracy” to turn Venezuela into the next Libya. …

the Empire “injected” itself into Venezuela just enough to trigger an immune reaction, like a vaccine, but not enough to infect Venezuela with a toxin powerful enough to kill it.

In the meantime, US aircraft carriers are in the Mediterranean trying to scare Russia, Syria and Iran all at the same time. … Even Hezbollah remains utterly unimpressed.

The truth is that the only people who have not come to the realization that the Empire is broken and defeated are the rulers of the Neocon deep state … By now everybody else has realized who utterly impotent the Empire has become. …

The Empire only *appears* to be strong. In reality it is weak, confused, clueless and, most importantly, run by a sad gang of incompetent thugs who think that they can scare everybody into submission in spite of not having won a single significant war since 1945. The inability to break the will of the people of Venezuela is only the latest symptom of this mind-boggling weakness.

Venezuela: Establishment Talking Points Translation Key

Things keep heating up in Venezuela, with possible “military options” now being seriously discussed at the Pentagon. And of course you know what that means! That’s right, it means we can expect to see even more lies and manipulations from the political/media class as the narrative managers try to get their rapey little fingers into our minds to manufacture support for unconscionable acts.

This can create a very confusing environment for everyone, where up means down and black means white and “humanitarian intervention” means “murdering thousands and thousands of innocent human beings”. With that in mind, here’s a handy translation key to help you understand what the establishment mouthpieces are really saying:

~

“I stand with the people of Venezuela” = I stand with some of the people in Venezuela, specifically the ones who support US government interests.

“Interim President” = Some guy most Venezuelans had never heard of until January of this year.

“Brutal dictator” = Elected leader who opposes US dictates.

“Usurper” = The guy calling the shots and leading the country.

“Opposition-led, military-backed challenge” = Coup.

“The people of Venezuela are starving” = Oil! Oil! Oil!

“All options are on the table” = One option is on the table.

“Popular uprising” = Unpopular uprising.

“Grassroots activists” = Let’s pretend the CIA’s not a thing.

“Freedom and democracy” = US control of Venezuela’s petroleum resources.

“Humanitarian aid” = Pretext for further escalations.

“Failed socialist policies” = Inability to overcome US economic warfare.

“Foreign interference” = An ally of Venezuela supporting its ally.

“We support the National Assembly” = Foreign interference.

“The Venezuelan Constitution” = Our convenient interpretation of the Venezuelan Constitution.

“We can’t just sit around and do nothing” = I have learned nothing since the Iraq War.

“54 countries recognize Guaido as president” = 141 countries don’t recognize Guaido as president.

“Troika of tyranny” = John Bolton’s second-favorite masturbatory fantasy.

“Special Envoy to Venezuela” = Convicted war criminal.

“The Monroe Doctrine” = I think all the countries on this side of the planet are my personal property.

“Operación Libertad” = Operación Libertad para el Petróleo de Venezuela.

“Shut the fuck up, bitch.” = Standard talking point from Venezuela coup narrative managers on social media.

“Talk to Venezuelans” = Talk to the wealthier, English-speaking Venezuelans with abundant free time and internet access who support a coup.

“You love Maduro” = I don’t have an argument for your opposition to US interventionism.

“You’re just a socialist who loves socialism” = I don’t have an argument.

“Go live in Venezuela if you love socialism so much” = I don’t have an argument.

“Maduro is killing his own people” = Yeah I’m just making shit up now.

“Maduro refuses to let in aid” = I just believe whatever the TV says.

“Trump is liberating the people of Venezuela” = I just believe whatever QAnon says.

“This US regime change intervention will be different” = I have replaced my brain with shaving cream.

What's a Congress? What's a Constitution? This would be 100% illegal domestically and internationally, and orders must be refused. The President does not have the authority to launch wars at will. He must be impeached and Pence also impeached for being an accessory and co-conspirator. American military force against Venezuela without explicit approval by Congress would be a criminal violation of the Oath of Office.

This is THE BEST thing I've read in weeks!

https://sputniknews.com/world/201905041074707174-venezuela-us-ship-humanitarian-aid/
The Pentagon plans to send the US Navy's Comfort hospital ship to help resolve what the Department of Defence describes as a humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, US media reports, adding that an official announcement is expected next week.

The media quoted Pentagon officials as saying that the 1,000-bed vessel is due to be sent off the coast of northern Colombia in order to treat those who may flee Venezuela.

An interesting report, for several reasons. First, the source is attributed to "US media", but is not named. When other media have been quoted on the above site, the sources have always been named. Secondly, if this report is true (I haven't seen this reported anywhere else), it doesn't make any sense from the stated perspective. Why not send medical supplies or staff to Columbia? What are people in need of medical treatment supposed to do, swim out to the ship? Seems like just a ruse to park our navy off their coast, to either intimidate, or to provoke further confrontation by violating Venezuela's territorial limits.

And of course, a remember that the thread discussing the CIA puppet's coup attempt is here:
