Yeah I agree. Why don't they go after someone who really is a menace to liberty? It seems that they go around bragging about how powerful that they are and how they are defenders of righteousness and liberty, yet they never go after the real problems in this world. Gee hope they do not hack me for dissing them a little....

That isn't the point, the point is you attacked them for being against freedom of speech when the (fake) letter never insinuated that they were, and secondly, if you read post #22 you will see that the letter wasn't even written by them.

So free speech means that no matter what you say or do there should be no payback? If you go into the ghetto and call a random black guy a nigger do you think they're going to say "Do not harm him, his right to free speech entitles him to say whatever he wants, whenever he wants, without any sort of retribution" ?

With force? No, that is immoral. No matter what someone says to you, it is still immoral to INITIATE force.

Remember back in the day when if it was a fair one-on-one, the fight would get broken up but no charges would ever get filed.

People like Westboro would have the right to talk but they would get tired of getting punched in the head all the time and quit their nonsense pretty quick.

Uh, it's not even close to the same thing. The point is simple. Free speech should be respected but everyone is accountable for what they say and do, and sometimes that will bite you in the ass.

There is a right to free speech. There is no right to feel comfortable. If you don't like what someone is saying then leave.

So you are saying that the families and friends of the dead should just leave the funeral when these assholes show up?

I personally believe that they should be beaten, and made thoroughly unwelcome, by those they are offending. In addition businesses in the area should refuse service and decent people should voluntarily shun them.

I personally do not know any Christians that support them. Most are embarrassed by them using Christ in their antics.
