Angelatc, Kathy88

I'm one of the few that does NOT miss angela. Anyone who calls for mandatory vaccination is anti-liberty.

Strawwoman. Can you cite one post where Angela called for mandatory vaccination? I probably glazed over a few dozen of the vaccination threads but I know for a fact I read many times that she was against mandatory vaccination. Sure, she thinks it is stupid to not get many vaccinations but I don't ever recall her calling to force it upon people. TIA.

I have a hard time respecting anyone who takes their argument into the gutter with repeated insults. Especially here. Respect and liberty.

I'm one of the few that does NOT miss angela. Anyone who calls for mandatory vaccination is anti-liberty. The same government that gives us shit everywhere else doesn't get to suddenly become saintly because... uhhh... science.

I'm sure she's crapping her pants about ebola and mandatory quarantines right about now too.

She'll be the first to call the govt nazis on her neighbors when they don't line up at the FEMA camps.

At least she doesn't give me West Nile Virus like some bites from Mosquito Ponies do.:(

Here, I'll help you out:

This is why there's no use talking to an ideologue. You guys all end up debunking your own strawmen. Nobody here is arguing for mandatory vaccines, so you can stop trilling about that.

There are no mandatory vaccines yet. And nobody has ever claimed that some small subset of the population won't have a bad reaction to vaccines.

What we are worried about is people who put out non-science claims, like vaccines don't work, vaccines cause autism, vaccines are poison, and the like are in fact paving the way for mandatory vaccines.

If people like DonnaY can convince enough gullible young people that their kids are better off getting sick than getting vaccines, it's only a matter of time before a huge outbreak claims a lot of young lives, and our government predictably reacts by passing strict mandatory vaccine laws that leave very little room for people who genuinely have a legitimate opt-out excuse health concern to opt out.
In the above post she is concerned that anti-vaccination people will LEAD to mandatory vaccination which she is opposed to.

I do concede she should have stayed home. The alternative is mandatory vaccines and I want no part of that.

But I'm not advocating mandatory vaccines. I just get my hackles up when I read someting that implies that if women didn't have sex, they wouldn't get diseases. Sex is just sex.

So, we can we stop lying about people that aren't even here?

She has implied it too:

Now when that same person tells you that mandated vaccines are actually a bad idea, they already have no credibility.

So, what I meant was, you are jaded (as in satiated) because you are used to dealing with members of higher intelligence on RPFs. Get it? ;)

I see your point! Fora allow people to get together who would ordinarily never meet in real life, so it does encourage a lot of variety of opinion, and some people who act like idiots are still pretty intelligent despite not using it much. Fora where people can post anonymously may post a lower standard of intelligence since you can just spit out blurbs constantly, but if there's a real discussion going on, it's usually because only the intelligent people ever stick around for the deeper conversations.

You have a point, but it is a wild exaggeration to claim that people who argue or debate on forums have "above average" intelligence.

I've been in online debates before with people who were CLEARLY of average intelligence trying to pass themselves off as having a high IQ. Wikipedia intellectuals skilled in using a thesaurus don't impress me.

Most political forums are nothing but democrat vs. republican talking point bullshit- even philosophy forums are full of pseudo-intellectuals parroting their college professors.

You are right in your assertion that curious, argumentative, and intellectual people require mental stimulation- forums provide them an outlet.

But you're way off with your "generally above average IQ" remark.

I'll give you that a lot of it is pretty dumb. I didn't say it was far above average, but I still think it's above average. Remember, average IQ is 100, so I have a hard time seeing people with below a 100 IQ sticking around here.

I recall her being very upset at the idea of being able to manage your own property because "some people might not take care of it and it would cause snakes/rodents/insects, etc. yadayadayada..."

She was obviously very concerned about public health and safety, enough to wish death on children over it!

I recall her repeatedly asserting that she hoped anti-vaxxers' children would come down with horrible diseases and die so that they would be naturally selected out of the gene pool like some inferior species. I'm sure I'm not the only one who remembers this.

She also had her reservations about property rights, and it had something to do with that.

I recall something along those lines as well.

Hyperbole is rampant on this site. But you agree then, Angela is not and hasn't been for mandatory vaccinations.

Some people say really nasty things when they're arguing an issue for which they feel intense passion. They don't always mean what they say. My grandchildren are not vaccinated. I really, truly doubt that Angie wishes ill on me, or my loved ones.

Having stated the above, I see nothing wrong with going after people who make stupid statements. But, we're not the sum of our stupid statements, are we? I hope not, cuz I'm screwed if we are.

Heh,she would say that she was against mandatory vaccinations and later in the same thread someone would accuse her of being in favor of them.
Here's my favorite Angela post on the subject.

Speaking of fucking ignorant, I've fucking told you my fucking position on fucking mandatory fucking vaccines about 100 fucking times. I don't fucking support mandatory fucking vaccines.

(Maybe putting it in your native tongue will help?)

Don't be ridiculous, I'm considered an "anti-vaxxer" and have had long conversations with Angela about it, have NEVER once felt like she wished ill will on mine, or anyone else's children. She was a great poster, and so was Kathy.

I miss most of you guys ;)

Sure, but it doesn't change the fact that I don't miss her. Also, just because hyperbole is rampant, that doesn't absolve her of responsibility for her words.

I love it how everyone has to make excuses for the things angelatc said. How about she was just mean, to put it extremely lightly?

The quote's out there somewhere. She definitely said it, I think multiple times. I'm too lazy to go find it, but I know it happened.

Yeah. You should check yourself.

Perhaps she gets pissed off, but I could say far worse about you if I were so inclined. I get frustrated as well, so I understand her--I don't think you even understand how distasteful (to put it gracefully) that you can be.

Not to mention that I have actual evidence of her supporting the cause, while folks like you just chase people like her away.

In the current vernacular this is referred to as an intelligence indicator, formerly known as a clue.
