A top lawmaker in the Congressional Black Caucus says tea partiers on Capitol Hill would like to see African Americans hanging from trees and accuses the movement of wishing for a return to the Jim Crow era.

Rep. Andre Carson, a Democrat from Indiana who serves as the CBC’s chief vote counter, said at a CBC event in Miami that some in Congress would “love to see us as second-class citizens” and “some of them in Congress right now of this tea party movement would love to see you and me…hanging on a tree.”

Well, in fairness to whoever the hell that is, people from places where the KKK isn't alive and well, and who don't consider watching cars turn left a serious pastime, don't really think this way.

Is this guy for real?

the racist crap is losing its effectiveness. Everybody sees through the crap. Even my liberal friends who hate the tea-party don't believe it is racist.

Sincerely ,

Slutter McGee

A bunch of gossipmongering, race baiting, fantasy driven, misanthropic, prevaricating, disingenuous, grandstanding, bloviated, vacuously insipid, violence inciting hogwash, codswallop and balderdash. But..should you expect any better from a Compressional Reprehensative Of the United Snakes?

Cutting entitlements = racist. Now if you didn't see that one coming, you don't know the enemy too well.

Questioning anthropogenic global warming is racist. Opposing Obamacare is racist.

This guy is a frigging retard , he is in a black district with no trees holding the seat his tax & spend GrandMother used to have .

A racist lawyer pointing the finger at others and calling them racist...nothing new here.

I thought it was odd that the racial card hadn't been played re: the Tea Party for a while now. But alas, here it pops up again... Even a lot of liberals have given up on this meme, as people on this thread have already pointed out.

Idiot Congressman said:

He's right about this one, though. He just blames the wrong people. ;)

The government charlatans need to keep their scam going and the Tea Party is getting demonized so they can take the blame when the whole economy finally crashes. Sadly, many will believe this because they'd believe literally ANYTHING the government says.

Carson and district 7 . He has the smallest district in the large Hoosier state , basically the city of Indianapolis without the conservative , affluent North parts of town , which are sliced out .Runs from about Beech Grove ( Southeast Indy ) through downtown to just past Speedway ( Northwest Indy ) . Population , thirty percent black , sixty percent Dem , and only twenty percent blue collar workers . District 7 Voted 71 % for Obama & voted for Kerry and Gore . Carson , what a pc. of work .... he is an active energy terrorist , openly opposing any legislation to increase any offshore drilling for oil & gas . He was a state excise gestapo agent for nine years . Likes Afghanistan , thinks Homeland Security needs more money and secured Federal tax dollars for Indy to fund more cops for a very systematic and corrupt force. He may not be Satan , but most definately a minion :)

The more they use this sort of 'race card', the weaker it becomes. I think people are getting tired of it. The race card serves more to rally the base of democrats rather than to convince the independents that the tea party is racist. As far as being a way to 'claim the high ground', playing the race card has little value anymore.
