My friend, I too suffer from being slightly too humble for all of this. I dont know what possesed me to run for local office but I just feel like this is bigger than myself. I see corruption and power hungry tryants even on a local level and it scares me. I have seen first hand the danger of the Department of Education in our local schools. I have seen first hand the influx of immigrants into my community and the toll we have payed with our social systems that are now overwhelmed. I know being a Mayor or even a Councilman in my town may not seem like much but it is a start. All revolutions begin with " an irate minority keen to set brushfires in people's minds" and this brushfire can start on a multitude of levels.
One thing you may consider is to get in with your local Republican Central Committee. I do not know how that system works in your area but here in Maryland we vote by county to see who will be a part of that. It is very easy to get in because usually they have trouble finding enough names willing to be a part of it and I can only think of one person who was actually defeated in that election. This is something else I am considering since there is no law that says I cannot serve in two offices at once. I may be the lone voice of reason in that room but in time I may rub off on the neocons who have hijacked our party.
Dave,
People like yourself have decided to run for local positions. Through this way, we start to get the Constitutionalists back into politics.
I would encourage you to look into it.
In fact if you are uncomfortable with running for an official position, start your way up.
Volunteer as a captain of your local/regional republican party. Start to slowly spread the ideas of libertarianism and bring in other Paulites. Then move on to bigger local positions until your ready to run for an actual elected office position. Start at the city/county level and move your way up.
You have the ability to do it. Go for it, don't hold back. We need people like you in Congress.
fanstasic display of logic.
He isn't going to respond for a while. his apple cart is completely overturned at the moment and he is struggling to find himself again.
