Poll after poll proves that Americans overwhelmingly oppse amnesty for illegal aliens. A majority of Americans support tougher enforcement laws and border security.

Good luck trying to win elections with a pro-amnesty guy. The only way that will work is if the election is fixed.
 
Give em all voting privileges. Perhaps Americans might tire of the Welfare State at that point. It's certainly expanding in our current situation. They won't listen to the moral argument, but almost everyone listens when it affects their bottom line.
 
Ho ho! You still believe the government cares about what the public wants. I don't recall wanting a terrible economy, no jobs, endless wars, and debt black holes. I got 'em, though.
