AMERICANS ELECT!

To refresh your short-term memory:

Nice try. Those are NOT concessions, nor even compromises. Those are what you would have the President actually DO, given your druthers. Darth Cheney had, shall we say, UNUSUAL power as a Vice President.

I suggest Ron Paul is too different from Mitt Romney, in Ideology AND Methodology, to NOT make concessions/compromises to play ball on Romney's team...MORESO if his deal-making would be for Rand's inclusion on the Home Team.

You said, I quote, "If I was 76 and at the end of my career and my actions would give one of my kids a shot at vice president of the United States I would take it. Just saying." (Before adding condescendingly, "Maybe only people with kids will get that. ")

The question is, upon direct question, upon pressing your reasoning to its "natural" conclusions, upon reflection, would you be willing to concede principles for the betterment of YOUR FAMILY irrespective of downside consequences for people OUTSIDE THE LOOP?

The question is, do you modify your position or double down?

Why in the world would I modify my position? Rand Paul as VP is good for the country.

IF Ron Paul does not get nomination AND does not run Third Party, tapping him for Treasury or Federal Reserve much more so signals intent (sans guarantee) to incorporate Paulian Policy than does tapping him OR son for vice president.

While entertaining hypotheticals, throw THIS in the hopper:

The Vice President steadily disagrees with the President, perhaps openly chides him and excites opposing opinion, perhaps is "only" a discreet but persistent fly in the ointment behind the Closed Doors of big-league dealmaking.

The President, (to sympathetic nods, if not actual applause) points to the infuriating obstructionism of Congress and to long, exhausting years of divisiveness and, with regret, announces he has called for the vice president's resignation AND selected his replacement.

Ron Paul (or Rand) channels Charlie Rangel and sez I AM NOT GOING AWAY?
