I definitely agree with our man Justin on this one (from his Facebook page):

My short time in Congress has convinced me of this simple truth—a truth I did not fully appreciate when I arrived: No amount of congeniality can change the system. A raw desire for power drives the Establishment. They respect you only when they fear you.

If he were really going all Machiavelli, he wouldn't let anyone know that he feels this way.

I think it's something that he should have probably kept to himself. I'm not sure what is gained by making this statement.

He is right.

I keep that in mind when Ron says things like not wanting or dreaming about becoming president, etc. It's the reason he was able to spend so many years there in DC without becoming absorbed into the establishment.

What is gained? Other than the reaffirmation that this man is one of the greatest members of the legislative branches that we have? Here is the thing about Liberty candidates. Sometimes they say things not because they stand to gain from saying it, but because it needs to be said.

I think he said it and doesn't give a damn what anyone thinks. Let's see if he back-tracks and apologizes or if he sticks to his guns like Ron Paul always did.

Maybe George Washington jumped in the channel as well:

"Government is not eloquence. It is not reason. It is force."

Eh, I love him. That doesn't mean the statement was thoughtful though. It was brash. It was emotional. It was personal. Those are things a politician should avoid.

He needs to stick with it.

But he said it in a way that.... I don't know. It seemed rushed, or something. Flippant.

Respect and fear aren't the same thing...but Amash gets it right...they only respond to what they fear. It's what Max Stirner wanted...associations of psychopaths only joined by their mutual reverence of each other's ruthlessness. Welcome to unethical Egoism ladies and gentlemen...anomie embraced.

And we really doubt these people are disproprtionately sociopaths up there? And the reason that's the case is...? Could it be the mechanism draws them like flies to turds?

This is why it is so important to keep the movement growing. Only a massive block of liberty oriented legislatures wielding shear force of numbers fueled by the passions of conviction will ever have the ablity to strick fear in these people. Amash's, Paul's, and Massie's cannot do it alone.

Only if your last name is Paul, then some make an exception. Goes against the philosophy but what the hell?

Shhhh, Rand has a super secret liberty agenda, so secret only Rand knows about it, and sanctions, compromising, etc, and just pissing off all Ron Paul's supporters in general is a carefully calculated trick to gain the everyman's trust so he can win president and then backstab his new establishment supporters with surprise freedom

It's cool bro, it's all part of the plan

On a forum filled with delusional conspiracy theorists is it really that surprising their are people who believe this?
