Please help. I did a google search for McCain today and a friend said when I clicked on the Sponsored Link for his website, I was accidentally costing McCain money. He said this is a Google AdWord program and that McCain pays everytime it is clicked. Is this true?

good idea!:D

gosh o' willickers, i sure hope not.

and if you did, i'd sure hope you wouldn't post about it in a public forum, google
does look out for click fraud.

At minimum, you're accidentally costing him 25 cents every time you click.

that's how the adwords work. pay-per-click.

anyone want in on a John McCain click-bomb?

I've used adwords before, and yes he has to pay for valid clicks to his ads... Links for the clickbomb? :D

Yes - it usually does cost his campaign when you click on a sponsored link.

However, it depends on which kind of link you click - some ads are paid per/1000 views, some are paid per click.

Ads shown as results of Google search queries ALWAYS are pay-per-click, which means it costs him each time.

That is click fraud and it's similiar to theft.

Do not click on an ad unless it interests you.

I'm not trying to be a jerk about it, but we will have our adsense account revoked if it is encouraged here.

Thanks.

I was not trying to do anything fraudulent, I just wanted to look at his web site and the Sponsored Link came up at the top so that is what I clicked on. Was that wrong?
