The only good part of this run down of events:

Democratic Enterprise

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce handed out its Spirit of Enterprise Awards earlier this month to lawmakers who voted for a pro-business agenda in 2012 and, no surprise, Texas Republicans did very well.

In fact, all Texas GOP Congress members except one won the award for votes in 2012, but only one Texas Democrats did.

The lone Republican who didn't get the prize was Rep. Ron Paul, R-Lake Jackson, who retired last year.

The Democrat who scored a prize was U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Laredo, a Blue Dog Democrat. "I am honored to receive this award," Cuellar said.

And Ron is honored, and we are thrilled, that once again he never sold his votes to get this award.

The votes that the Chamber supported and scored and Ron voted against:

1. Export-Import Bank Reauthorization Act of 2012

2. Russia and Moldova Jackson-Vanik Repeal Act of 2012 - repealed some trade barriers with Russia but also sanctioned certain individuals involved in the death of a Russian prisoner

3. MAP-21 - reauthorized surface transportation at higher spending levels, extended federal flood insurance and extended the lower federal student loan rates
