Will be interesting to see what becomes of this, although I have doubts TX will fight the Feds.

When it comes down to it, if We Texans really push, they will sacrifice their pet Rick "The Hair" Perry in some illegal but somehow legal political move to kill the bill.

That's what I was thinking too. Since the passing of the bill ultimately comes down to Fairy Perry signing it, this was unlikely to ever pass.

What I want to see is Texans go berserk on their legislators and force their hand into a fight.

Dang it. I'm up to my eyeballs packing up my apartment. I'm torn here. I'm less than 4 miles away from the Capitol but this is pretty much my last day to out of this apartment and done moving.

Just find a couple of folks with Ron Paul t-shirts, explain your situation, and have them come back and help you pack after the visit to the Capitol.

move your things to the front of the capitol building. Tell them you ain't movin' until that bill passes.

Talked to Kotin, he's going to see what is going on with the Austin RP meetup group.

It's going to be light out til 8 today.

They didn't seem to know anything about it.. I can't tell if he's asking ppl to go or if he's just doing this by himself.. He said something about going to the offices ofthe Texas legislature.. Still looking around and calling people though.. Anyone here from austin??

Alex Jones seems to be embellishing the issue a bit; but if it motivates people, so be it.

I mean, they say only 3% of travelers ever get the full hands-on search, so his theatrics need to be toned down a bit.

HOWEVER:

If they can do it to a few and get away with it, they'll eventually do it to all of us. That should be Alex's focal argument.

So did Alex go down there yet? His show sounds like it's in replay.

He did go down...

Alex Jones — a man best known for claiming the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks were an inside job and hosting Charlie Sheen’s phone-in program of choice — led a group of about 100 people, initially, to the wrong chamber as they protested the failure of the anti-pat down bill Wednesday afternoon.

After discovering their error, they left the House and headed over to the Senate, the chamber the measure is stuck in. There, Jones claimed that the state senators had sold out the country to foreign banks, were “enemies of the Republic of Texas and the Republic of the United States” and had sided with “King George III.”

As the small crowd listened to his speech — some of them wearing t-shirts that declared, “911 was an inside job” or “Live Free or Die” and they held signs that exclaimed “NO TSA Gropers” — several of them followed the radio host in chanting “resistance is victory.”

Jones, in a shrieking voice, complained about TSA officials of “groping children.” He also complained about the “new world order.”

Cross then implored the crowd to go to Senators offices and “tell their little boyfriends” (who are, apparently, blackmailing the Senators about their sexuality in order to prevent them from acting in the interest of the nation) to vote in favor of the ban on pat downs.

When asked about the demonstration, Sen. Dan Patrick said that he was pleased that Texans had turned out to protest the failure of his anit-pat down legislation, but said that Jones was in no way affiliated with him.

“I don’t know who Alex Jones is… No idea,” Patrick said.

Later, Jones led what had almost become a mob from the Senate to the House because one of Jones’ supporters said that a member of the House staff hadn’t expressed concern about the pat downs.

One of the members of the crowd identified one of the doormen who stand of the House, who are typically instructed not to say much of anything to people, had made the remarks.

Jones and his cohorts, then proceeded to chase the doorman around the capitol dome and then yelled at the young man for the offense of not showing great enough concern for their cause.

“You think we’re your slaves,” Jones yelled at the doorman.

“You think you’re going to use big government to have your way with us, you parasite?! You’re going to be defeated!,” his yells devolving into screams.

He promised to bring 50,000 people to the Capitol next time.

That's about how I figured things would pan out. I'd rather put up with Alex Jones, annoying as he may be at times, than TSA gropers, but there's a way to get your point across without excessive hyperbole.

Isn't that 3% equal to 100% of travelers who reject the naked xray scan?

Possibly, I might have misunderstood that. Still, I really wouldn't go with Alex Jones's recommendation of 'going to your congressman and telling him that you or your family can't fly because someone is going to touch your junk', particularly when the odds of you being pulled aside for a full search are so low.

I'd stick with arguing for the 4th Amendment, without the theatrical turn-offs. But, it seems it may be too late for that. This is one of those Alex Jones moments where you ask yourself, "Okay, did that help us, or hurt us?"

EDIT: But, as I said earlier, I'd take an annoying Alex Jones over an elitist TSA agent any day of the week.
