Ahoy! Pirate Trump Seizes Venezuelan Oil Tanker - 'We'll Keep The Oil!'

"Just one month after US CENTCOM condemned Iran for boarding a commercial vessel in international waters, the Trump Administration boarded and seized a Venezuelan oil tanker bound for Cuba and seized the cargo. Is this another provocation hoping for a Venezuelan response to kick off the war? Also today: Massie introduces bill to get out of NATO.

Oh, God. When they boot the bot up we're going to get two thousand posts about fentanyl today. "Of course they make fentanyl in Venezuela. Big Orange Daddy said so!"

On the plus side, fentanyl is one of the few words it chooses to spell correctly.

Dave Smith made a good point the other day when he said something like "this is good litmus test as the shit Trump does gets worse and worse. Many of his early supporters are like this has gone too far, but the real hard core idiots are still supporting him."

I get that. I'm hardly a supporter, but imagine the alternative. What kind of domestic messes would Harris have caused? Trump needs to realize average people don't give a shit about Venezuela, they care that they have to spend $300 a week at the grocery store.

Average people don't think about national security because thinking people think about it and take care of it.

They dont know that groceries cost more if we don't do national security.

Libertarians think you can just leave national security to personal choices but you can't trust individuals to make personal choices for the survival of the country because they might decide not to make sure the country survives because they had a bad day or because some other asshole cheated them so they don't think they deserve to survive.

For national security you have to use force.

Trump is a term-limited "lame duck" who no longer has to even pretend to care what "average people [do or] don't give a shit about".

I don't doubt that he'll continue pretending to care, though - at least, whenever doing so services his narcissism.

Right now, playing at being "the very model of a modern major general" weighs more heavily on the scales of his ego than domestic price inflation does.

You may be right.

And paying for another regime change is going to make groceries cost a lot more.

I'm guessing the dems foreign policy would be slightly less bad. Immigration way worse. Spending about the same. Freedom of speech worse.

But I think it's also important that although Trump might be less bad, the inevitable economic collapse is going to get blamed on the supposed ideology of whoever is in charge. If it's a republican it'll get blamed on free market capitalism and we're going to get a hard core socialist next. Despite the fact that the republicans are almost as socialistic as the democrats.

Cost more than being bombed by rockets and drones like Israel was by Iran in the war this year?

Venezuela is currently aligned with countries that could help them develop those kinds of capabilities.

The missles that Iran used against Israel could reach several dozen high value military and civilian targets in the United States.

If China were to create a hegemony in the region they could blockade the US navy and prevent us from doing any trade with the rest of the world and starve the US economy.

So essentially not doing anything isn't a good option.

We can't let a super power take over that region of the world because its our region of the world.

Letting China make the entire region into a giant Chinese vassal state costs a lot more potentially it costs us our entire country or destroys our whole economy.

They would destroy us without firing a shot with you guys surrendering our region of the world to a foreign super power.

Foreign policy is more important than politics. If 20 years from now we lose a war and our country is destroyed it wont matter who the president is because we are dead.

The only way to prevent that from happening is to prevent that from happening.

If the Democrats take the house he'll be facing a third impeachment. The first one was garbage. (Biden should have been investigated). Understandable it lost in the Senate 48 for 57 against The second one was at least understandable. It came much closer to winning, 57 to 43. The third one. Third time could be a charm. It depends on how badly the GOP gets clobbered in the midterms, what the economy is doing, how lawless Trump continues to be and how many other GOP senators are willing to go against him.

Whats the plan impeach Trump and then Vance and have the House Speaker become president?

Do you think the MAGA people will allow such an abuse of power?

Such a thing wont happen because of the corrupt bargain in our country that we have had since the civil war.

That's a new normal that neither party wants to normalize. Changing the president every 2 years would be a disaster.
