Ron Paul Beats McCain in Maine Caucus, Primed to Win Over 1/3 of State Delegates

In the race for delegates, Ron Paul appears to closely trail Romney for first place

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 4, 2008

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – While most reports about this past weekend’s Maine Caucus focused on the purely symbolic presidential preference poll, in the meaningful race to secure delegates to the state convention Ron Paul is primed to finish second with likely 35 percent of the total delegates.

Delegates to the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis are elected by the state delegates. Internal results from 10 of 16 counties, including the largest cities of Portland, South Portland, Lewiston, Auburn, Augusta, Waterville, Bangor, and Brewer, show Ron Paul picking up 215 of 608 State Convention delegates so far reported, or 35%.

“Ron Paul’s strong second place finish in Maine, in which he beat John McCain, is proof that this race is far from over,” said Ron Paul campaign manager Lew Moore. “We’ll continue to battle for every delegate in this wide-open race for the Republican nomination.”

In the presidential preference poll, with 70 percent reporting, Ron Paul is in third place just two percentage points behind John McCain. However, the Maine preference poll is purely a beauty contest, and in the actual election of state delegates the so-called “frontrunner” McCain is far behind Ron Paul.

What the hell? Why doesn't the real media see it this way? It makes sense to me but wtf do I know?

Can someone, who is unbiased either way, tell me how in fuck this bullshit is all supposed to work.

I just found out that the neighbording state of WA (where RP just vistied), has BOTH a caucus and a primary for both parties, each of which disseminates delegates? How in the fucking bullshit?

I need to get more educated....

Bump.

I have no idea. I've been trying to figure it out as well.

But I'd appreciate it if you didn't swear so much. :D

If he beat Romney and McCain the media would probably say something

really simple, your average person doesn't understand the whole delegates ystem, so reporting on the straw poll is much easier and better for getting people attention.

Plus people don't react well when they realize the popular vote doesn't mean much.

They can't show Ron Paul because if they do somebody might see it and vote for him.

The MSM isn't reporting on Dr. Paul because he isn't paying their stooges to follow him around with camera's. Remember how much press Hucklebutt got when the reporters were part of his entourage? Now that he can't afford to pay them he isn't getting much face time either. Money is the language that the MSM listens to. It's business.

lol, I really don't buy that

- I do thin we are hurt by our lack of MSM coverage

- although I do believe coverage is dictated by the polls

- polls have the results that they do cause most people arn't paying attention and go buy name recognition

- so it's a self perpetuating prophecy, but I don't think the MSM except fox is that determined to manipulate the results.

- also having a well connected publicist has a lot to do with it, the media is saturated with publicist, if yours isn't chummy with the press...

I mean if they covered RP more people like Mccain and ROmney will refuse to do interviews, they are the stars, that's how they manipulate the media.

We just need to continue to make Ron Paul and other Ron Paul americans celebrities... it's sadly the only way. Let's get Ron paul in the next terminator movie.

Lets be honest, most MSM journalists do not understand the delegate system. They could not tally votes without a calculator and someone double checking their work. If you expect more from them you will worry yourself to death.

Best avenue is to campaign your tail off and keep pulling in delegates for RP. They will not be able to ignore us in the end.

I heard on MSM that Romney won and would get all delegates is how they are reporting it. No mention of anyone else or anyone getting delegates.

yeah, that is bull... but again, they don't have the energy to see who each individual delegates is for, they assume based on straw poll percentages and if ROmney got 50% of state delegates pressumedly (which he didn't) it would be a fair assumption he'd sweep all the national delegates

In a way, it's a good thing we're misunderestimated:)

So it was all about the polls when the reported that McCain came in 2nd in Nevada when it was actually Ron Paul.

For those of you who are not understanding the media black out, you need to follow the money.

I'd start by GOOGLING Rupert Murdoch.
Its all connected. Media..military..politics...corporate biz...

Its up to you to put the pieces together in your head, or do a connect the dot graph on your own.

hth

I still don't get it. How come this isn't in ANY other media outlet other than RP's main website.

I'm not doubting it... well... I guess I am doubting it.

Sorry for the harsh language before.... You can all appreciate how frustrating this is. To be honest, I have made my peace with RP losing the election. Just not in this way.

Not with freaking Newsletter scandals.
Not with out and out omission of delegate counts.
Not with rejections of provisional ballots.

I have NOT made my peace with that, and I think there needs to be a much LARGER outcry against those issues from Ron and the rest of the higher ups in campaign.

I dunno. Agree to do an interview with Mike Reagan or Rush.

I know they would have him on. They have both said as much. Just use the time to talk about those above issues the whole time. Hell, act like a crazy person. Get Buchannan to look at this stuff.

SOMETHING!!

Rupert Murdoch and Mitt Romney basically own 90% of all NATIONAL "media"

No one knows how many delegates at the national level Ron Paul will end up with from Maine.

NO ONE. However, the indication is that we got about 35% of the local delegates. There are something like 700 of them and we got over 200. Think about it: We did NOT just get 200 delegates to the national convention.

They still have to vote later on for which delegates go to the convention. ONLY then will we know for sure who gets the delegates. The same is true for several other non-committed delegate states.

That the media is assuming that Romney will get all 18, is completely erroneous, even using the results of the straw poll...

Alan Colmes once said that if it cant be explained in 15 seconds the public loses interest, and when the public loses interest the news channels ratings go down. So the media reports whats simple.

Well why would those 200 delegates, NOT vote for Paul when convention time comes? Peer pressure or what?
