[EDIT - This effort is Pau (done) the convention starts tomorrow May 17, Mahalo Nui Loa (thank you very much) to all who contributed in whatever way you have. This is a great thread, filled with kino aka (living spirit) and aloha (grace). It truly glistens my eyes with Hoʻohanohano (honor) and nēnēleʻa (gladness) to be associated with all of you. Now, the koa (warriors) enter the
Kahua hoʻouka kaua (battleground) and we are left to kala (wait) and pule (pray)

You guyses is da besteses :D Thanks...]

Aloha :)

The Hawaiian Convention is very expensive due to airfare/etc. They are still filling up convention slots, and donations will help to get people in who could otherwise not go. There are lots of worthy causes, I think this is another.

Is the campaign not allowed to pay their way? Since Paul said he specifically wants as many delegates as possible, it seems like this is an expense they should be willing to pickup.

I'm not sure of particulars and will let the other members, who visit these boards, answer that. I wonder that it is an issue of fairness, HQ did not pick-up the tabs in any other state...

I do know that Dan and Patrick, whom the campaign hired, are both original members of my 1st MU and hard-working true-blue supporters of our movement.

I've already donated and will donate again.

Thanks :)

Perhaps this thread needs a picture of a hot hula dancer wearing a grass skirt and a Ron Paul tee? Just a thought ;)

bump, i will be donating when i get my next check! just spent the last on BJ Lawson

Sorry, when I read airfare, I assumed they were national delegates going to Minneapolis for some reason. I forgot people in hawaii live on different islands.

Wow, I didn't think of that either, this is just to get to the state convention!!!

That's just a 2 or 3 hour drive for most of us (not all, like in CA other large states)

I'll help out in any way I can, my little chip in is still in "beta"--I didn't have a paypal account so had to start from scratch........

OMG, that means that if you get your 3 and 3 (delegates and alternates) you'll be needing money to get to St Paul........... jeez and I thought 5K was a lot of money, you guys need help, big time.

We need you here for the national convention......:D

BTW, what do you mean about couch surf in the text of your chip in?

Can I borrow a phrase or two from your text?

Yes, feel free . I know the author who "creatively" put together the letter for HI. & they won't mind :)

*Couch surf* ----> refers to the outer island delegates that can't afford to stay at the hotel. So, some M/U members on O'ahu (where the state convention is held) are opening their homes & donating a sofa for them to crash on.

I do know the people in HI. have been working extremely hard amidst challenges & now the financial angle is the icing on the cake! We all have to help them out however possible. Every bit helps!!

Never having been to that part of the world before, I have no idea how it works, but can they charter a boat or something? Perhaps it's cheaper than all getting separate airfare?

Actually I know they had 1 guy that was going to think about taking his catermeran (that would accomodate 35 people), yet on 2nd thought decided it was too ify & potentially dangerous. Maui alone is 230 miles away. Not sure on exact miles for Kaua'i (about 400 Mike?) or the Big island. The worse part is the channel can be very unpredictable.

There is now a SuperFerry that goes from Maui to O'ahu, yet it takes 5 hrs & is actually more expensive than flying. Even that has had its share of problems since launching. From what I hear, the owners of the company never took into consideration the unpredictable environment where they launched their brilliant idea!

"Locals" can get a decent airfare of about $100+ fees+ tax (r/t) if they book early!

One thing most people aren't aware of is, Hawai'i has the most expensive convention registration: $100!!!! (haven't heard of any others this high --yet)

Hey, hillertexas...the HI folks love ya for doing this & send their "Aloha" !! ;)

So now a bit of HI. information:

HI. has a potential of 1047 delegate seats + 1047 alternate seats available for their GOP state convention.

Due to the fact that it is a high Dem. state (fools!) GOP attendance is normally pretty dismal at state, 200-300 (total) attendees is a status quo *good* turnout--even on an election year!!!

Yet with the nationwide RP r3volution, they have become highly suspect of the *cult* attempting to *takeover* the GOP. And so HI. has had numerous challenges, as other states, yet they became true warriors in the process. (aka: powerful/slick)

With the GOP *modifying* the interpretation of state rules, HI was blessed w/an extension to recruit delegates. The r3volution graciously complied!!

At state, 3 CD1 & 3 CD2 delegates are elected (+alts) & then 11 at-large delegates (+alts) are elected. Total of 34 potential RP delegates/alternates. + the usual 3 RNC (chair, comitteewoman, committeeman)

I know first hand w/my contacts there, that there is an undying spirit to see this through!

They can't disclose too much due to trolls throughout ALL the M/U's & these boards now. Yet, they have a plan. The plan is coming together (despite the ocean that seperates many) They are diligently working the plan!

They just desperately need financial assistance to see it through. Geeze...can you imagine the challenge of an ocean dividing them? Unfathomable for many of us!
