Adding Medical and or Decriminalization of marijuana to the GOP Platform 2016?

I'd love to see medical cannabis legalized -- there's no legitimate argument against it. Legalizing and decriminalizing marijuana for non-medical purposes is going to be a really tough one because too many GOPers are uneducated about the medicinal benefits let alone the more complicated logic libertarians use to support ending the drug war against recreational use. This continually comes to mind...

Sadly, too many GOPers would have the same heartless response. :( If they're opposed to medical cannabis, surely they won't support anything else.

Sounds good in theory...maybe possible if Ben Ginsburg kept enough delegates on buses so that John Boehner could ram it through?

Part of the GOP platform?! Hahahahahahahahahaha....maybe.

already is in the denver gop and across colorado gop's , the gop establishment in general are dinosaurs and if they do not jump on board with individual liberty, freedom and smaller gov soon they will be left to history like the whig party. If the gop wants to ignore 58% support nationally for legal weed let them keep losing. Any republican that ignores our majority voter base in colorado will have their asses handed to them on a silver platter.

I think getting Rand's ideas on reducing mandatory minimums into the platform would be much more likely and therefore a more productive use of time.

I haven't noticed him really pushing that much lately. He tested the waters, gave it a good effort and it was rejected soundly. I think he will circle around and pick the topic again after a while but right now I think he is seeking out something that he can actually pass.

Medical use probably has more support nationally than reducing mandatory minimums for recreational use and is more of an emotional topic (people more likely to get on board).

The way I see it the best we can shoot for is legal hemp and make med. Marijuana a state issue.

It would expose them as the hypocrites they really are...

Also, most Republicans have the "Lesser of two evils" mentality. We don't. We need to use that to their advantage. Force them to choose between the next Ron Paul and the next Barack Obama. They'll side with us, even if they don't like it.

Don't compromise with them, they're sheep. Force them to choose.

I think one of the major problems is that most Americans don't realize that there are different strains of marijuana. Hell, a lot of people think you can get high on hemp too.
