Adam Kokesh: Why I Don't Support Rand Paul

I completely agree with Kokesh, except for his strong attachment to values. I have more in common "politically" with Kokesh than I do with Rand Paul. But I'm also more pragmatically minded and realistic in what's likely currently. And I think right now, considering all factors, the best we can hope for is a slowing down of the growth and scope of government and a slowing down of the expansion of the American empire. And I think Rand is they key for that. But beyond that? I don't know.

Unfortunately, I've seen a lot of this stuff from libertarian pages on Facebook and in the comments. There are many who don't think he is "pure" enough. What makes me cringe is seeing those who think Gary Johnson is so much more libertarian than Rand. Sure, when you have absolutely no chance of winning you don't have smooth out some of your libertarian edges. It seems that many libertarians are willing to cut off their nose to spite their face, IMHO. I've always liked the Jeffrey Tucker approach of supporting that which moves the pendulum toward liberty.

Rand has forgotten more Austrian economics than Gary will ever know.

Totally agree.

Actually, I would think that the people who don't want the "fringe element" of the movement involved in supporting Rand would be glad about these comments.

Adam can't win. If he supported Rand, certain people would say he's hurting the cause. If he's against Rand, certain people say he's hurting the cause. In the end, Adam wants what we all want. It just that his approach is not always palatable for many. If he's irrelevant, then it shouldn't matter, should it?

I love the fringe! I am fringe.:D I listen to Alex Jones and others. I'm not a fan of Adam's style, but I wish the fringe overall was more on board.:(

Number of fucks I give about what Adam Kokesh supports: 0

He can support Rand or not support Rand. He's an individual just like the rest of us. Let him follow his own path. There are times when our paths may align, but MY path is not dictated by anyone else. It is unfortunate that every individual cannot operate this way.

Too much anger can really warp a man. I think even now, Kokesh has his heart in the the right place. But he's really a cautionary tale at this point.

We need to be happy warriors. That's what will win through, both in this election and in the great, endless struggle for liberty.

Adam Kokesh: Why Don't I Support Rand?

A. Because I'm an idiot.

/thread

....Why give this SOB attention? Ignore him.

There's invariably going to be a portion of this movement that doesn't get behind Rand and I think he is just catering to that audience.

With all due respect to the guy, I think a lot more harm than good comes out of a lot of the things that he says/does.

Examples?

Adam, please tell us why you don't support Jeb and Hillary. Thanks.

He doesn't need to. They don't claim to be for liberty, or anything resembling it. It should be obvious to you and everyone else why someone who does support those things would not support Jeb or Hillary, and less apparent why they would not support Rand.

Thus, the video.

lol...well we will see in a couple years how much difference Rand makes compared to Kokesh.

I don't understand why Kokesh is so upset about a single person in the liberty movement who has decided to use political opportunism to achieve liberty. There should be LOTS of people doing that, and there should also be LOTS of people like Kokesh educating people about what real liberty means. He doesn't even have to support Rand directly, financially or spend a lot of time convincing his supporters about why they should support him...but he doesn't have to be on the attack either.

Ultimately he should support him to some extent because empowering Rand will further liberty, but if he doesn't believe that I'm not going to try and force him to change his mind.

IMHO Kokesh is succumbing to the trappings of lifestyle libertarianism, in that he's overly concerned what others think. Rand Paul cannot exist in his social circle instead of simply cheering on Rand for doing his own thing. Like I said, I don't think he's a bad guy but right now he is lost.
